As a 6-foot-3, 275-pound sophomore, Taylor certainly looks the part of a menacing presence on the interior of the defensive line. Taylor has a ways to go before reaching his potential, but there's plenty of time for that. The foundation is strong with plenty of room to build on it. Taylor definitely benefits from size and strength. He's a tough matchup for most opponents on the sophomore level. There's speed and agility there as well, though. Taylor is at his best when he keeps his pads down and is moving forward. He uses his hands well and absorbs blocks in keeping the backers clean.

Clevenger got his feet wet on the varsity last season with three receptions for 39 yards. He's built on that experience this fall with 14 catches for 232 yards and two touchdowns, all of which ranked second on the team through Week 6 of the 2025 season. He's also served as the team's main punt returner. On mid-season highlights, Clevenger displays slick route-running skills out of the slot. He keeps moving and engages coverage before finding holes in the defense. With the quickness to make opponents miss in the space and the size to win in traffic, Clevenger brings a complete array of tools to his position.

Maxwell was part of a 1-2 punch at running back as a sophomore last season. He rushed for 327 yards and two touchdowns. Now part of a three-way timeshare in the Interstate 35 backfield, Maxwell leads the way with 534 yards and nine scores on the ground through six games of 2025. Maxwell is adept at short-yardage runs, providing power and quick cuts in finding creases in the defense. He also finds lanes on stretch plays and breaks tackles when running inside away from the goal line. Maxwell shows a nice burst through the hole and gets downhill in a hurry. He also produced 15 solo tackles and 3.0 stop for loss in the first six contests.

Minner chipped in to the Hawk cause in 2024, recording 4 solo tackles and a pair of stops for loss as a role player. He's put those lessons to good use in breaking out as a junior this fall. Through the first six games, he had racked up 14.5 tackles (7 solo, 3.5 TFL) and a pair of sacks. Strength is the asset that pops out when watching Minner. He absorbs blocks and powers off of them if the play comes his way. Minner operates with a great tempo and keeps churning through the whistle. With good straight-line speed when chasing down ball carriers, Minner could work as a middle linebacker in some defensive schemes.

Bailey would win a lot of competitions for best name. He's starting to impact the proceedings on the field as a sophomore for the four-time defending state champions in 5A. Appearing in four of the Rams' first six games of the season, Bailey had completed 26 of 38 throws (68.4 percent) for 350 yards and four touchdowns against only one interception. He led the charge in victories during Weeks 5 and 6. Bailey appears confident and in control while behind center. Arm strength stands out as does his mobility and accuracy when throwing on the move. Keep an eye on where this goes from here because Bailey's potential is significant.

Boonstra put together a memorable freshman season at North Sioux City (SD) Dakota Valley High in 2024. This fall he's made a seamless transition to the Iowa prep ranks with an impactful performance for Sioux City East. Boonstra led the Raiders with 24 receptions through the team's first six games. His 349 receiving yards and three touchdown grabs both ranked second on the squad. In watching highlights from the first four contests, Boonstra flashes a broad-based skill set at the position. Comfortable lining up in the slot, he can burn defenses streaking down the seam. He's just as likely to catch a pass in the flat and zig-zag through defenders with quickness in space. Only a 10th-grader, Boonstra's has proven he's one to watch moving forward.
