Junior Slot Receiver Boonstra continues to take his game to new levels weekly. Boonstra has been a nice option for junior QB Koch. The two have very good chemistry and continue to victimize defensive coordinators who are trying to figure out how to bracket Boonstra in the passing game and keep him in check. Boonstra has (12.0) receptions for (180.0) yards and two scores through two games and is a prominent player in the offensive game plan that averages (15.0) yards per catch.

Boonstra is a talented junior Slot receiver and in my opinion is the key to the Black Raider offense. Boonstra is a fluid athlete that owns a (21.99) 200M time and has a (33) inch vertical jump. In last Friday’s game Boonstra had (5) receptions for (69) yards and one score. Boonstra really stresses defenses on the perimeter because he can consistently beat linebackers inside over the middle or can outrun a DB to the sideline. I expect a huge junior year from Boonstra and he will be gaining the attention of college football teams as an impact offensive player.

The Black Raiders should have one of the more explosive receiving cores next season, with two top 50 sophomore prospects in Grant (mentioned earlier) and Tanner Boonstra Tanner Boonstra 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Sioux City East | 2028 State IA . In his first season at SC East, Tanner hauled in 36 receptions for 472 yards and five receiving touchdowns. My biggest takeaway from Tanner’s tape was that you just need to find ways to get the ball in his hands. He can attack all levels of the field with a solid route tree, has the speed to take the top off a defense, can work the middle of the field, or can take quick screens for big gains. Boonstra is also very twitchy in the open field, making him a threat to shake off defenders and tack on some serious YAC. Good separation, can find weak spots in coverage, and is willing to work his way to the ball.

Boonstra put together a memorable freshman season at North Sioux City (SD) Dakota Valley High in 2024. This fall he’s made a seamless transition to the Iowa prep ranks with an impactful performance for Sioux City East. Boonstra led the Raiders with 24 receptions through the team’s first six games. His 349 receiving yards and three touchdown grabs both ranked second on the squad. In watching highlights from the first four contests, Boonstra flashes a broad-based skill set at the position. Comfortable lining up in the slot, he can burn defenses streaking down the seam. He’s just as likely to catch a pass in the flat and zig-zag through defenders with quickness in space. Only a 10th-grader, Boonstra’s has proven he’s one to watch moving forward.
