West Marshall won each of their last 5 matchups against Roland-Story in blowout fashion, but the Norsemen looked to write a different story as they emerged with a 20-17 lead heading into the 4th quarter. However, the Trojans gained a firm grip of control in the 4th, scoring 10 unanswered points to take the lead with just over 5 minutes left, and ultimately holding off the Norsemen to win their second game in a row.

Top Performer: Blayk Hart (JR) - Hart's performance proved to be a hit-or-miss affair, but when he hit, it led to enormous results. He finished with 167 yards and 2 touchdown passes despite only completing 5 passes all game, adding another 86 yards and a rushing TD on 18 carries (4.8 YPC).

Red Oak vs. West Central Valley: 22-21

With Red Oak chasing their first win of the season, they headed on the road this week against West Central Valley where they played a fairly even matchup. Looking to snap a 4 game losing streak to Red Oak, the Wildcats led 21-14 late in the 4th quarter, but the Tigers' engineered an excellent drive late in the game, which culminated with the game winning touchdown + 2 point conversion to give the Tigers the edge and snap a 6 game losing streak dating back to last season.

Top Performer: Masen Fisher (SR) - While Red Oak did not have official posted stats from the game, Fisher delivered with a steady hand and calm presence under pressure, delivered with several impressive passes, including a critical 4th and 3 conversion late in the game which ultimately set up the game winning TD shortly afterward.

Pocahontas Area vs. Alta-Aurelia: 7-6

A defensive battle between two struggling teams in Class 1A, Alta-Aurelia entered the game having won the 3 previous matchups against the Indians, and the Warriors were able to control the run-game with over 300 total rushing yards. However, the Indians' defense stood them up and were able to keep them out of the end zone for much of the game. Trailing 7-0 in the 4th, the Warriors finally scored with 8 minutes to go, but missed the extra point, and the Indians were able to hold off Alta-Aurelia to earn their first win of the season and their first win against the Warriors since 2012.

Top Performer: Christian Valenzuela (SR) - Valenzuela did a little bit of everything, completing a pass, catching 2 passes for 33 yards, and playing a big role for the Indians' defense, notching an interception and a fumble recovery which proved critical as the Indians held Alta-Aurelia to 6 points.

Ogden vs. Manson-NW Webster: 15-0

Ogden and Manson-NW Webster has been a close-knit rivalry to watch in Class 1A Iowa, with the results being split between the two over the last few years. Despite Ogden entering this game as a favorite and coming off a 2-0 start, the Cougars completely shut down Ogden's explosive offense while compiling 256 total rushing yards on the Bulldogs' defense, earning the Cougars their first win of the 2025 season in shutout fashion.

Grundy Center vs. Dike-New Hartford: 35-7

Despite being touted as the Class 1A Championship rematch from last season with the added difficulty of playing at Dike-New Hartford, Grundy Center silenced their opponents once again with a statement win, as they were in near full control of the game. After a scoreless first quarter, the Spartans roared to 35 unanswered points between the second and third quarter, limiting the Wolverines to under 200 yards of scoring offense and 0 points until a meaningless touchdown in the 4th quarter. With this win, Grundy Center reaffirms that they are still the team to beat in this conference as they look to add a 4th straight Class 1A title.

Top Performer: Ryder Slifer (SR) - Slifer proved to be a critical component on both sides of the ball. On the O-line, he paved the way for the Spartans to rush for 209 yards on 26 total carries. On the defensive side, Slifer finished with 6 tackles (5 solo), 4 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, and an interception as the Wolverines simply had no answer for him.
