Let's take a look at some key players on the defensive side of the ball.

Toala is an elite two-way player and as a defensive back is a threat to change the momentum of a game at a moment's notice. He has great range and closing speed with exceptional hip fluidity and movement patterns. His ball tracking is great, and he showed all of that in his pick six Friday night. Anytime you throw against the West defense, you have to worry about the defensive backs, and the first name you should be afraid of is Toala. He'll be a multi-year Power-Four starter.

Dart was phenomenal in Florida and made several key plays including a key interception. He is an excellent prospect and has good size for the position. His range, closing speed and ball tracking skills along with his physicality makes him an exceptional defensive back. He is light on his feet and has good footwork, he would make for a good receiver as well, one of the best overall athletes in the state.

Sparrow's future is at Wide Receiver, but he is an exceptional defensive back and he came away with another interception on Friday night. He is instinctive, has great hip fluidity, anticipates well, has good range and acceleration. He'll be a nightmare on both sides of the ball.

Havili has continued his tear from a year ago and he is a defensive tackle that offensive line coaches must game plan for. As an interior rusher, he showcases a great frame on him and he is physical and a tremendously strong individual. He does a good job of advancing his position and he's made several key plays on the season and been effective.

Coester has been excellent this season and he's shown great anticipation and diagnoses plays quickly. He does a good job of disengaging from his blocks and close in on the ball carrier. He's helped clean up a lot of plays and eliminating miscues. He'll look to continue to be a leader for the Alta defense this week.

Aisa has been a tremendous addition to West and he's been a force on the defense line. He's added extra depth to that line and with a deep rotation, they're all fresh for the second half. He has great power and physicality to his game. He is quick off the line and does well with his bull rush, he's an edge rusher that'll need to be chipped or doubled to contain.

Richards has done a fantastic job this season adding pressure to the quarterback and creating chaos as the running mate for [player_tooltip player_id='408567' first='Krew' last='Jones']. He is quick off the line, has good lateral quickness and his acceleration helps him get by the offensive lineman. His hands are quick and active, and it's only a matter of time before he collects sacks in bunches.

Merten has began the season on a hot streak, and he's done well disrupting opposing offenses and giving offensive linemen fits. He has good size and his length allows him to win versus his blocker and he cam use his hands to get his blocker off him. He'll look to create further chaos this week.

Those were some defensive players that caught the eye.
