Everyone knows that to win games nowadays, you have to be able to run the football. Keeping the clock moving and displacing defenders against their will is a pretty good formula. Today, I'm looking at which 2026 rushers are flying under the radar in the Lone Star State. These guys were extremely productive for their respective teams, but have yet to see their recruiting stock take off. Keep an eye on them as they continue to progress heading into the 2025 season.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='293936' first='Jett' last='Walker'], 6'2" 215, Georgetown

A hard-charging north and south runner that will lower his shoulder pads and run right through you. His feet never stop chugging on contact, he can handle a high volume of carries and has enough speed to run away from third-level defenders. He's durable, strong and plays with an edge to him.

RB: Gavin Black, 5'11" 210, Odessa

Gavin has a good build to him already, he shows steady change of direction and the vision to spot ample cutback opportunities. He's got a solid mixture of power & finesse, he's slippery between the tackles and can cut a run all the way to the backside if defenders overpursue.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1646149' first='HD' last='Davis'], 6" 205, Wolfe City

Davis was extremely productive last fall, totaling 2,789 yards and 33 touchdowns on his way to being named All-State. This kid can get to his top speed in a hurry and pull away from a defender, he's patient allowing his blocks to take shape, and can stop & start on a dime. He's a dynamite receiver out of the backfield and is an absolute mismatch going against linebackers.

ATH: Jett Taylor, 6'1" 195, Grand Saline

Jett lines up at the quarterback position but he is a dynamic runner on the ground. He can run between the tackles or outside of them, he's got exceptional burst, and can plow through defenders in short-yardage situations. I'm not sure what position he projects at for the next level, but I do know that he'll make an impact wherever they place him.

RB: [player_tooltip player_id='1632178' first='Hayden' last='Drinkard'], 5'8" 165, George Ranch

This kid has nifty footwork and can make defenders miss in a phone booth. He uses his size to his advantage to get lost behind the line, he's a natural reading zone blocks and shows consistent rush tempo. Hayden never gives up on a run, he's deceptive and loose-hipped.
