Season Review - La Porte Bulldogs

Coming off an impressive 9-2 overall record and a perfect 7-0 run in district play, the La Porte Bulldogs made noise in the 2024 season under the leadership of head coach Kevin Berneathy. Now, with momentum on their side and a winning culture in place, the Bulldogs are hungry to replicate that success and make another deep run in 2026 season. With several key playmakers returning, there's plenty of reason to believe that production won't slow down. From the backfield to the receiving corps, this group has the talent and experience to keep defenses on their heels and continue lighting up the scoreboard throughout the season.    When you turn on Peyton's film, it's easy to see the type of receiver he is. He's a playmaker who can take a simple screen pass the distance and always looks to create something once the ball is in his hands. His ability to make defenders miss and turn short gains into explosive plays makes him a dangerous weapon. He brings the size to run through defenders and the speed to break away for explosive gains, making him a tough matchup every time he touches the ball. After rushing for 2,191 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2025, expect Sean to once again carry a heavy workload as one of the Bulldogs' biggest offensive weapons. He finished with 510 passing yards, eight touchdown passes, and added another score on the ground, showing he could make plays whenever his number was called. Heading into 2026, he'll have the keys to the offense and a full offseason to build chemistry with his teammates. I had the opportunity to watch him compete at a camp this spring, and he was one of the top performers from start to finish. He consistently made plays and showed why he's one of the rising young prospects in the state. His performance quickly caught the attention of college coaches, leading to offers from UTEP, UTSA, and Baylor. His running style fits this scheme well, as he shows good vision, makes quick decisions with the ball, and has the ability to create big plays when he finds open space.     Carson showed he could make an impact whenever the ball found his hands last season, and expect that role to grow in 2026. He has the ability to create explosive plays, keep drives alive, and give the Bulldogs another reliable weapon on offense. Whether he's catching short passes, moving the chains, or creating yards after the catch, he finds ways to make plays. He also contributes on special teams. He brings the mindset and toughness needed to set the tone in the trenches, while continuing to develop his technique and consistency. With a bigger role ahead, Ruben will be counted on to help lead the way and give the Bulldogs stability on offense.     Ryker is a reliable target who thrives when working over the middle of the field. He plays with no fear, consistently attacking the middle of the defense and making tough catches through contact. He brings a strong running style and the ability to create plays when given space     Kaleb has been putting in the work throughout the offseason and is looking to add another weapon to the wide receiver group this season. He's focused on sharpening his route running, improving his hands, and building chemistry with the quarterback.    The offense will look to continue executing at a high level, building off the success they've had while bringing in some new faces along the offensive line. With added experience and new pieces up front, the unit will look to create more opportunities for the playmakers and keep the offense moving. The Bulldogs have shown the ability to fly around the field, create pressure, and make offenses work for every yard. With a mix of returning contributors and new faces stepping into bigger roles, the defense will look to continue building chemistry and bring a physical edge every Friday night. The ability to create stops, force turnovers, and give the offense extra opportunities will be a major part of their success moving forward.    Jacob is a player who brings toughness and effort to the defensive front. He understands the importance of winning the battle up front and continues to show the ability to make plays against the run while creating disruption for opposing offenses.     Caden is a dawg on the defensive side of the ball, showing up consistently around the football. With over 40 tackles and 6.0 sacks, he has proven his ability to impact the game as a playmaker. Caden does a great job reading plays, closing space quickly, and making his presence felt as a disruptor at his position. He plays with great instincts, understands how to get downhill, and has the ability to track down ball carriers before they can get into space. Another thing Caden does well is blitz off the edge. Caden holds offers from New Mexico state, UTSA and more.     Kylen has spent the offseason putting in the work to be ready for a bigger role on defense. He's been focused on improving his speed, technique, and overall consistency, and that dedication is starting to show. His confidence in coverage continues to grow, he reacts quickly to the football, and he's never afraid to come up and make a tackle.     Jim brings a competitive edge to the secondary and will look to make his presence felt for La Porte. He shows the ability to stay engaged in coverage, compete at the catch point, and make plays when the ball comes his way.     Nathan brings valuable experience to La Porte after transferring from Aldine, where he gained important reps on the offensive line. His time in the trenches has helped him develop a strong understanding of blocking techniques, communication, and the physical demands needed up front. As he joins the Bulldogs, Nathan will look to bring that experience into a new system and compete for a key role along the offensive line.     Louisy is a player who can bring a spark to the defensive front with his ability to attack and make plays. He shows a strong understanding of how to work through blocks, find the football, and create problems for opposing offenses.     Franklin brings a strong presence up front and will look to make his impact felt on the defensive line. He plays with a high motor, works to disrupt plays in the backfield, and understands the importance of winning the battle in the trenches.     Timothy is ready for the next challenge, looking to take his game to another level in the secondary. With a bigger role ahead, Timothy will be counted on to bring consistency, make smart reads, and provide a steady presence for the La Porte defense.    La Porte enters the season with plenty of excitement surrounding the program, bringing back key contributors while welcoming new players ready to make an impact. The Bulldogs have the talent on both sides of the ball to compete at a high level, with an offense capable of putting points on the board and a defense that wants to set the tone.
