Next up are tight end, always a strong position in Iowa.

Brewer's list of scholarship offers reveals the top-end potential he possesses. Georgia, Ohio State and Michigan are pretty successful football programs with a keen eye for talent. Brewer is my top-ranked player in Iowa's 2027 Class. He's developed steadily in all areas of the game. While he's always been a threat in the passing game with his speed and athleticism creating mismatches, he improved his blocking immensely during his sophomore campaign. He's physical and technically sound in doing so. If you haven't already, buy Brewer stock. He's a special talent.

In many respects, Jones looks like a man among boys during his sophomore highlight video. He's bigger, stronger and faster than most of the competition. He caught seven passes for 93 yards and a touchdown, but did a lot of damage in the running game. Jones impacted the proceedings as much as any of Central Lee's offensive linemen in that regard. He could raise his stock this offseason by showing more than what he has on film in the passing game because the blocking tape impresses.

McIllece will be one to watch this coming Fall. He's developed well in a program that's really good at doing that. In viewing his freshman highlights from 2023, McIllece looks natural at the position. He's a willing and able blocker but also creates mismatches when running routes. His frame looks like it can add strength and mass without him losing athleticism and speed.

Newman is a really good athlete whose college future could very well end up being on the baseball diamond. He caught one pass for 35 yards as a sophomore on the Centennial Football team in '24, illustrating big-play ability as a receiver. It will be a big spring and summer for Newman in football and baseball. There's a good chance he rises up the recruiting boards when scouts get their eyes on him.

Roberts got his feet wet at the varsity level in 2024, catching one pass for 30 yards and working on his blocking. He's growing into a position that requires development time. In reviewing individual game highlights on his Hudl page, we can see an athletic playmaker with plenty of room to go before reaching his ceiling.

We're rolling along with our position breakdowns from Monday's Class of 2027 rankings update. Next up are tight end, always a strong position in Iowa.
