Another prospect, who came to our Prep Redzone New York Showcase, was Brayden Wood. The Friars prospect, measured in at 5’6″ 212-Pounds, displaying a solid build for a Linebacker. He has plenty of room to grow, being only a Freshman, and the St.Anthony’s prospect, also displays some versatility with the ability to play on the offensive line if he were to grow and gain weight.
Wood had a solid showcase in Warwick, and displayed flashes of potential. In his combine portion, he was a solid tester ranking in the middle of the pack. In 1v1 Drills, and Indy, he displayed good footwork, with the ability to move with a quick burst of speed. I did not see many coverage reps of him, which is a mistake on my part, but nothing egregious stood out from the LB side in those reps regardless.
Wood has a bright future ahead of him, and can easily be a top playmaker in the CHSFL in a few years, especially with the physicality I have seen from the Friars Defense over the years.

Brayden Wood Brayden Wood 5'7" NY is my youngest MVP of the day, being a class of ’29 linebacker. I was super impressed with his physicality and aggressiveness and thought he was great in coverage, and moved around super well in indys. There were multiple runningbacks who were savvy route runners and he was able to hang with them. He’s filled out and moves well at 210. Great athlete. When he grows a bit and gets a bit taller he’s going to be even more effective in coverage.
