Watts is a natural playmaker in the secondary, with a knack for reading quarterbacks and jumping routes. He’s a ball hawk who knows how to time his breaks and disrupt offensive rhythm, creating turnovers and momentum changing plays. While he didn’t make many camp rounds this summer, he’s still very much a breakout candidate heading into the season. His instincts and coverage awareness allow him to impact games even when the ball isn’t thrown his way. If Watts can build on last year’s success and post another productive campaign, don’t be surprised when college coaches start calling.

Watts has all the tools to be a premier shutdown corner. His ball skills are exceptional, as evidenced by his five interceptions this past season, consistently high pointing passes and making difficult interceptions look routine. Watts thrives in man coverage, possessing the speed to stick with receivers and the instincts to anticipate throws. His ability to mirror routes and make plays on the ball puts quarterbacks in a tough spot when deciding to challenge him. Even when he’s not forcing turnovers, he disrupts passing lanes and makes life difficult for opposing offenses. His athleticism also allows him to be a solid open field tackler, ensuring that receivers don’t turn short gains into big plays. With his skill set and work ethic, Watts is on track to be one of the top corners in 4A football next season.

Watts is a true shutdown corner with the speed and hands to eliminate his matchup from the game. Watts’s ability to stay in stride with receivers, coupled with his excellent trail technique, makes him a key piece in Vista Ridge’s secondary. He’s known for being aggressive at the point of catch, breaking up passes and even coming down with interceptions. Against a strong offense, look for Watts to set the tone early, potentially forcing the opposing quarterback to avoid his side of the field entirely.
