Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
McBroom is a versatile weapon for Mesa Ridge. The 5’9 188-pound ATH had 67 carries for 422 yards with 7 touchdowns, 21/30 for 224 on 70% completion rate with 4 TDs, and 2 INT, 3 receptions for 27 yards. He has good athletic ability due to very good acceleration, speed, good change of direction, and balance. As a passer, he demonstrates good throw power with a quick release. Goes through his reads and finds the open man. He excels running the ball. Very good vision with very good inside and outside running. Weaves through the defense but isn’t afraid of getting physical too. Since Mesa Ridge’s starter has graduated, look for McBroom to take the reigns and show off his dual threat ability !

McBroom showed out through both the air and the run game. The sophomore went 9/14 for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns with 7 rushes for 106 yards. McBroom isn’t normally the quarterback for Mesa Ridge, however he is 2nd in rushing on the team. He has good athletic ability due to very good speed, change of direction, good acceleration, and balance. When McBroom isn’t throwing the rock, he has good scramble ability and runs out of the pocket escaping for a big gain. He has good throw power and good touch on his throws. Against Doherty, he was precise with the ball and didn’t put it in harms way. I can’t wait to see more of his dual threat ability going forward.

There was a lot to love from McBroom’s performance. The freshman receiver has very good athletic ability due to very good jumping, acceleration, good speed, and change of direction. During the 7 v 7 drills, McBroom demonstrated good release. He attacked the press jam consistently and won. He used his good separation quickness due to his athletic ability and play strength. He’d stay physical throughout routes and come up victorious. Good catching and ball tracking skills. After the catch, he used his good change of direction to juke out the DB. Watch out for this young WR as he continues his development! He’s off to a great start.
