With this Northstar Football News recruiting profile, we head to near the North Dakota border and chat with a player that plays a position that doesn't get talked about much in the football world. I caught up with NFN prospect Max Soeth who plays Center for the Moorhead Spuds. I chatted with Max about his favorite things about Center, his recruiting interest, and other things that made his season this year. Max Soeth, Class of 2021 (Junior) Position: Center High School Program: Moorhead Get to Know Max Soeth Soeth is a gamer and loves the game of football as a whole like most kids that play the game. He also is a grinder and likes to "push himself and his teammates" and loves the competition football brings to the table for him. His strengths are his run and passing blocking ability and his ability to accurately snap the ball to the quarterback with ease. Best Parts About Center I've done a few profiles on linemen, but Max Soeth is the first center I've ever interviewed. Max's favorite part about center? "Being the only linemen that gets to touch the ball." Max told Northstar Football News about his reasoning for enjoying the Center position. He also said it's just a "fun" position to play overall. College Interest Soeth said he would love to play college football at any level and currently only has Davenport University, a D-2 program in Grand Rapids, Michigan showing interest at this time. In case you've heard of them before, Davenport also has interest in Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons ATH Isaac Burgett who we profiled back in September making their recruiting presence in Minnesota on the two completely opposite sides of the state. Improvement from the Off-Season by Soethe There were three things that the Moorhead Spuds coaching staff told Soeth to work on, in which two of the items you've heard a lot of on Northstar Football News. Faster and stronger were two of the things they told Max to work on in the off-season. "You can never not be faster or stronger" Soethe joked as that seems to be a common theme in the high school football landscape. Another thing the Spuds coaching staff told him was "stay low" as for his posture on the offensive line. Max's Mentor Max credits his mentor as Moorhead head coach Kevin Feeney as his number one mentor in his football career. "He's someone that pushes you hard everyday and will get in your face if you're not doing something right, which I like," Soeth told Northstar Football News about his ole ball coach. Feeney has been the Spuds head coach since 2010 after coaching at Fargo South where he went to six straight championship games and won three state titles in that span. Biggest Things Max Learned About Himself This Season They always say it's all about "the hustle", and Max Soeth is about the hustle as well. When there's a play, Max likes to hustle to the ball after blocking and then once the play is over, run hard back to the huddle. "I never started doing that until this year," Max told Northstar in his final statement.
