Hird was RB2 last year but flashed when it was his time. He is a tough runner who hits the hole hard and doesn't stop his feet on contact. He often breaks a few tackles and can pick up a decent amount of YAC. Krob and Jaspers were in similar roles themselves. Krob is a guy who flips between inside and out and can run a very polished route tree. He has big-play ability but also is a security blanket due to how open he can be and his sure hands. Jaspers is a gritty versatile baller. He can play both RB and WR but showed a lot more catching the ball than running it. He is someone who can make plays when the ball is in his hands whether he wants to create contact or evade it, he is not an easy guy to tackle. Both proved to be productive and serviceable in their limited playing time but just didn't see as much production last season, look for that to change this season.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='1529022' first='Zayvion' last='Ellington']

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='1692983' first='Isaiah' last='Jervik']

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='1421471' first='Gavin' last='Warren']

The Warriors have a young but determined trio here. It starts in the backfield with Ellington, he is perhaps one of the best running backs in all of 3A let alone the state. He has adequate patience and vision and is a tough runner. He is also savvy when finding holes because once he gets going there is no catching him. Jervik proved to be productive in a run-heavy offense, as he was the team's leading receiver in yards and receptions. He is an athletic target who can win 50/50 balls but also can stretch the field for opposing defenses. Warren is the youngest out of the bunch and he still has time, given his potential. He has exceptional athleticism, can create some separation, and can make plays when his number is called. He was limited in his role last year but that doesn't look like that; 'll be the case for this season.

Solon

QB - [player_tooltip player_id='1360778' first='Tyler' last='Bell']

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='1360709' first='Eddie' last='Johnson']

ATH - Cole Carney

The Spartans were clicking on all cylinders last season. Even with the departure of key players, they return a lot of valuable pieces. Most importantly, Bell is back. He is a confident quarterback and that is being said in a good way. He is cool, calm, and collected in the pocket as he trusts his line to give him time. He has exceptional arm talent and a quick release that allows him to get the ball out in the quick and intermediate game efficiently. However, he can also execute on the D-ball and is no stranger to being mobile in the pocket or needing to escape it. Johnson is back as well and is the jack of all trades within this offense. He is kind of a flex-tight end, however, he can go out wide and run routes from pretty much any position. He can also take some handoffs in the backfield if needed. He's one of those players that no matter where you put him he will execute into his job just because he has the skill set and athleticism to do so. Perhaps the biggest question is the running back position for the Spartans. However, Carney has the chance and can prove to be productive. He saw a limited volume and playing time in his role last year but when he did get his chance he flashed some playmaking ability and potential. All in all, the Spartans are still in a good place and just pretty much have to prove it to people. They are still a team to watch come this fall.

Walhert Catholic

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='1286448' first='Michael' last='Bormann']

ATH - [player_tooltip player_id='1286440' first='Tom' last='Scherr']

RB - Drew Reilly

The Golden Eagles can do a lot with their trio here. With a duo like Bormann and Reilly in the backfield, it allows them to create some versatility. Bormann is a workhorse of a back. He is a strong runner who often never goes down after the first hit. He brings a callous mentality to the position and sometimes creates bigger plays than the offense intended. Reilly may not have the production or workload that his teammate has, however, he is still a very serviceable back in his role. When he is in there it allows the Golden Eagles to change the pace of what they like to do on offense and he is a good tempo back who can carry the load when Bormann needs a breather. Rounding off this trio is Scherr who is a playmaker wherever he lines up. Mainly lined up as a Receiver he is very dangerous when the ball is in his hands. He is slippery, can make defenders miss the open field, and possesses good speed to break away. However, when running routes he can get open and he is tough when making catches in traffic, showcasing he is determined to make plays.

West Delaware

ATH - Brent Yonkovic

RB - [player_tooltip player_id='1242282' first='Macoy' last='Roling']

WR - [player_tooltip player_id='1406645' first='Seth' last='Jackson']

The Hawks have a trifecta that can do some damage this fall. In the backfield, the combination of Yonkovic and Roling is a sight to see. Yonkovic is a playmaker in all phases of the game. He can run, throw, and even catch the ball if he wants to because he just carries such a unique skill set. He plays with some swag to him that keeps him poised and level-headed throughout the game and allows him to be locked in 24/7. While Yonkovic may be lightning, Roling is for sure the thunder. The junior running back was the second leading rusher and scorer behind his QB. He is the runner who gets all the tough and earned yards. He is more downhill and one cut but has some decent speed and wiggle to him in the open field. Rushing for over 500 yards last season he proved he can contribute and be productive despite low volume, so look for that to change this fall. On the outside, Jackson is a playmaking deep threat. He is a long, big target that can stretch the field and win contested catches. He is smooth in his route running and can easily deceive a DB. Primed for WR1 this year, Jackson could see the possibility of improving his numbers from last season drastically.

With high school football returning this month, we look at some of the best offensive Trios within class 3A. This list includes strictly skill players so apologies to the offensive line!
