Expert Analysis
Roger Brown | Prep Redzone Scout
Steven Joseph Jr. Steven Joseph Jr. 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Dexter Southfield | 2028 State New E isn’t the type of running back you bring down with an arm tackle. He’s a 5-11, 210-pound wrecking ball who has good balance and rarely goes down on first contact. In short, he’s the type of back who can wear down a defense. Despite his rugged frame and powerful running style, Joseph is shifty and has the ability to change direction by making sharp cuts in traffic. Although he looks like a fullback, Joseph has the ability to be an every-down back because he has shown that he can be an effective receiver, and has also displayed a willingness and the ability to block in pass protection. Like most running backs, Joseph could improve his speed to avoid getting caught from behind. Added speed/quickness would also help him accelerate through the first level of a defense. Although he will occasionally bounce a play outside, he typically uses his blockers well and either follows them or waits for a opening to develop. His size coupled with his athleticism make him a nightmare for smaller defensive players.
