He has a smooth transition from his back pedal to his break to turn and run which aids in his ability to effectively close off space between receivers and the sideline. He also shows he is able to get off blocks and make tackles on the perimeter. He's a pro-style with most of his success being from inside the pocket. He shows good timing and anticipation on short and intermediate routes and has the touch and arm strength to throw a good deep ball. He also shows he can navigate around defenders while inside the pocket and step up to make throws downfield. Donovan currently holds 4  D1 offers and has been generating a lot of early interest as a sophomore. Second in line to junior Herbstreit, he finds ways to get on the field and make explosive plays for his team as a nice change of pace making plays with his legs. His strength and vision as a quarterback on designed run plays stands out against some of the best competition in the state. It is safe to say the quarterback position at the Cincinnati powerhouse is in good hands for seasons to come. As a quarterback, he shows great mobility and awareness navigating in and outside the pocket, making off-balance throws on the run. The top shortstop/pitcher's arm strength shows on the football field, zipping balls into tight windows and putting touch and deep passes down the field. He has a very fluid and quick release that helps him get the ball off fast to avoid pressure.
