Prep Redzone WI Showcase: Best of the QBs

Sunday's Showcase was no different as we saw talent make the trip to Oak Creek from all across the state to show off their stuff. I am confident that each of the athletes in today's article will be playing at the next level. I highly recommend checking these kids out, getting them on your boards, and building relationships with them. It has been a great chance to see how he has developed over the year. McCain's game has continued to improve since this spring. His already big, strong frame looks even bigger than this spring. The arm has continued to strengthen as well. Not only does McCain look like a high end QB prospect, the arm talent matches. He made throws to every level of the field, could put it anywhere on a frozen rope so he could fit it into tight windows. Grayson has developed the ability to throw from awkward angles, and on the move. His feet looked smooth and were able to quickly set and move with his eyes. Since I last saw Brayln it is clear he has hit a growth spurt. He will need to focus on filling out his frame, but height will never be an issue for him. What also made me excited was watching how coachable he was when we started passing to WRs vs air and DBs. He implemented what coaches said and it led to impressive throws. Albritton still has good body control despite the growth spurt. His feet are quick and help to generate solid velocity on his deep passes. The ball came out of his hand quickly, and his ball placement was pinpoint while throwing in rhythm. I have been keeping an eye on Owen through his Hudl highlights, but it is always a difference maker to see these kids in person. It was clear that Owen has the natural arm talent that will translate to the next level. He has the skill set of a prototypical passer. Quick footwork through his dropback, is able to quickly set and throw, he has touch on his downfield passes, and we saw him drive the ball on the short to intermediate throws. Nolan impressed me throughout the day from testing to individual drills to the one on one battles. The freshman is a natural passer. Nolan makes it look easy pushing the ball downfield or zipping it 15 yards downfield on a rope. The 6' 175 lbs QB has sharp mechanics that is able to maximize the velocity he can put into the ball. Nolan stood out in the drills that highlighted off platform passing or throwing on the move as well. Tommy had a very strong junior season, earning All Region honors while throwing 12 TDs to 1 INT. The junior continuously caught my eyes with his arm. The ball jumps out of his hand, but more impressively, the control and ball placement were excellent throughout the day. Whether dropping it over a shoulder, hitting a crossing receiver, or getting the ball out quick, O'Hagan placed the ball where his guy could catch it in stride. He has a huge frame, and he knew how to get that size behind the ball to rip it downfield. Caleb has no problem attacking any level of the field. As the day went on, Caleb settled in and the accuracy continued to improve. This offseason will be huge for Caleb. The arm talent is there and we could see huge strides in improvement if he puts in the work on tightening up his mechanics. As those become more smooth we will see the accuracy continue to climb. Logan is a dual threat at the QB position. He put together a strong athletic testing portion, showing explosiveness and the speed to hurt a defense on the ground. Logan's athleticism shows up in his passing as well. He has an efficient throwing motion, quick feet, and can snap the ball out of his hands. I was surprised by the velocity he could pout on the ball when he really let it rip also. He is a rising northern WI prospect. JJ proved that he is an impressive dual threat QB who should make some noise very early in his HS career. The 8th grader has a solid 6' 165 lbs frame, and is a technically advanced passer for his age. His accuracy to every level of the field was impressive, and his arm didn't look out of place compared to the HS athletes in attendance. It is clear Chapman puts in the work in the offseason. He is an athletic passer who can hurt a defense with his arm or legs. I first came across him after he caught my eyes a couple times during the testing portion. Morrison is a twitchy short area athlete. His quick feet fit the QB position well too. He quickly dropped back and set his feet to get the ball out. I went to check out his film, and Finn made a lot of impressive plays. He moved well in the pocket to buy time. The ball jumps out of his hand, especially when he attacks the intermediate level of the field.
