Melvin plays about seven different positions for Cleveland, but I’m warming up to him as an interior lineman, even if he’s still listed at edge. You know what you’re getting from Melvin: pass-rushing juice. Line him up inside, outside, off the ball, as a blitzer, wherever; he’s going to get after the passer. There’s not only a use for that in high school, but there’s a serious market for that skill set at the college level.

Melvin has always been a fun evaluation. He has the speed of an off-ball linebacker and the power of an interior defensive lineman, but doesn’t have prototypical length or height for the edge position at the college level. So, his upside will be determined by the type of role a college coach and carve out for him. I like him best as a sort of “bandit” linebacker-edge hybrid, but as a high school pass-rusher, he’ll beat anybody on any day, at any position. He’s a fun guy to watch and we think he could end up as a top recruit

Cameron has performed well at some different camps so far this offseason, and I am interested to see how he stacks up against similar competition here this weekend. For his height, Cameron has an excellent get-off as an edge player, and that is something that, if Cameron shows it consistently, it can get him onto some boards and possibly some offers from his performance.
