Week 5 of the high school football season in our Land of 10,000 Lakes brought some heavyweight matchups (Orono vs. Mound Westonka, Chanhassen vs. Mankato West, Becker vs. Hutch, etc.), thrilling finishes (Minnetonka vs. Shakopee, SRR vs. Elk River, Litchfield vs. Dassel-Cokato), upsets, butt-whoopings, nail-biters, and shootouts, but what we’re most focused on is the exception personal showings from athletes around the state. 7 TD rushing games, 6 TD passing showings, 3 INTs, and 40+ yard FGs booted, we saw eye-popping stat lines in all three phases of the game and dynamic performances from athletes from 9man to 6A. Keep up the great work, fellas!

The #1 individual performance from last weekend’s slate of action, Maple Grove’s breakout star of a RB Charles Langama Charles Langama 5’10” | 190 lbs | RB Maple Grove | 2025 State MN had a record-breaking night against Blaine as he posted 26 carries for 328 yards and 7 TDs. The seven rushing TDs sets the Crimson’s single-game rushing TD record. MG won 55-21.
In Delano’s Week 5 matchup against Providence Academy, Schultz had a big-time showing as he posted 6 catches for 135 yards and 5 receiving TDs (22.5 YPC) as well as 4 tackles and a PBU defensively.
Bentley Lujero
Bentley Lujero
Pine Island’s athletic tailback Bentley Lujero went off versus Plainview-Elgin-Millville and finished his day with 14 carries for 193 yards and 3 TDs.
One of Minnesota’s top running backs, St. Thomas Academy’s standout Savion Hart had a big day against Robbinsdale Armstrong and tallied 20 carries for 271 yards and 3 TDs in the Cadet’s 44-13 win. That’s a 14 YPC average!
Highlights
My pick for Minnesota’s top performing QB through five weeks of the regular season, Stewartville’s senior gunslinger Ayden Helder Ayden Helder 6’2″ | 195 lbs | QB Stewartville | 2024 State MN had another impressive showing last week against Lake City in the Tiger’s homecoming win. He finished with 15 completions on 21 attempts (71%) for 201 yards and 6 TDs through the air.
A 2025 small-town RB raising his stock during the fall, Isaiah Wright went for four TDs on the ground in Fertile–Beltrami’s 55-16 win over KCC.
Highlights
Richfield representing well from this past weekend as 5’11, 180 lb. senior Henry Bandah posted 300 all-purpose yards in the Spartan’s 35-13 win over St. Paul Johnson. This included a rushing TD, a receiving TD, and an interception he returned for six.
Peyton Honnoll
Peyton Honnoll
Rogers High School’s senior specialist Peyton Honnoll booted a 41-yard FG and a 21-yard FG in the Royals win over Monticello 28-14. He’s having an impressive senior season and has quite strong leg on him.
One of my favorite RBs in the state, Aitkin’s 2025 5’11, 200 lber. Jacob Williams was a big part of the Gobbler’s 28-0 win over Rush City as he went for 17 carries for 118 yards and a TD that got called back, but where he really stood out was on the defensive side of the ball. Three tackles and three (!) INTs were a big reason Rush City couldn’t get any points on the board. Williams is legit!
An electric ball carrier/offensive weapon as either a WR or RB, Maurice Brown went off vs. Spectrum in their 44-18 victory as he posted 249 rushing yards and 5 TDs. Kid can play!
Highlights
Against Royalton High School, Geislinger was 101-4 passing for 169 yards and 2 TDs, and also added 8 carries for 88 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. Interestingly, the game got cut short because of lightning, so who knows how crazy his stat line could have been with four full quarters.
Anthony Starks II
Anthony Starks II
The 612 signal-caller of the Delasalle Islanders, Starks II had a big day vs. St. Anthony and went 19 for 24 (79%) for 214 yards and 3 TDs in their 35-13 win.
