Expert Analysis
Brian Jerzak | Prep Redzone Scout
Ranked 109th on prephoops.comrnEsayas looks like he throws an effortless deep ball; when he can step into the throw, he is accurate and can push the ball downfield. He will not pull the ball down and run when his first read is covered, but he has excellent speed once he decides to tuck the ball or a read option is called, and the read is to use his legs. In the open field, he will put a move on a defender and is not afraid of contact. In the pocket, he moves well and throws a good ball on the run. Esayas makes quick, accurate decisions when getting the ball out quickly and when making the read option read. He is currently averaging six points a game for the Wolfpack basketball team.

Esayas was originally classified as an ATH after his freshman season with the Park Wolfpack, but after a successful sophomore campaign as the backup QB for Park’s varsity offense I believe he was ready to move to QB as his primary position on the gridiron. At 6′, 165 lbs., Esayas posted 365 passing yards at a 50% completion clip along with 5 TDs to 2 INTs, and on tape he showed off some noticeable & impressive zip on intermediate throws and the velocity to help squeeze the rock into tight windows with solid ball placement that led his WR out of trouble and contact. He also showed some big-time toughness and will step into his throws through contact and with a big hit bearing down on him. With 2023 grad Sam Berrey Sam Berrey 6'4" | 215 lbs | QB Park Of Cottage Grove | 2023 MN gone to graduation it’s Esayas‘ time to shine next fall. Let’s see what he can do with it!

The sophomore has played two games in 2022 and is 26-52 for 365 yards and 5 TDs as a QB in varsity action. He’ll stand in the pocket and deliver accurate strikes with solid velocity with a huge hit bearing down on him and has thrown some impressive passes in tight windows and tight coverage over the middle of the field. His accuracy, throwing motion, and arm strength all look natural and strong for his age.
