We take a look at the top results and standouts from week 5 in Class 4A Iowa!

Riding a 3 game winning streak, and having won their last 3 matchups in a row over the Bombers, the Comets seemed poised to move up to 4-1 on the road, and they were able to build a 14-3 lead late in the 4th quarter. Ironically, against the Bombers, the Comets' exploded like a bomb during the 4th quarter, with 2 costly turnovers from North Polk, and the Bombers' patience and steady precision offensively allowed them to climb their way back into the game, sending the game into OT. The Bombers ultimately scored in OT and held off North Polk to secure the comeback upset at home, and with this win, the Bombers surpass their win total from the 2025 season.

After losing their last 3 games in a row, the Monarchs were determined to snap their losing streak on the road against the Yellow Jackets. It was a messy night for both teams, with a combined 8 turnovers from the 2 units, and despite building a 20-6 lead in the 4th quarter, the amount of mistakes during the game allowed the Yellow Jackets to come back, scoring 2 TDs late to cut the deficit to one. Unfortunately, in the end, their 2nd extra point attempt to tie the game, which proved to be the difference as Denison-Schleswig held on to victory, leaving the Yellow Jackets to still search for their first win of the 2026 season.

Top Performer: Elliott Green (SR) - The Monarchs' defense stepped up in a big way on Friday night, and Green had an outstanding performance as a one-man wrecking crew on the Yellow Jackets' offense, finishing with a team high 9.5 tackles (8 solo), 5.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 1 FF, and a fumble recovery returned for a TD.

One of the most anticipated matchups in the 4A conference entering this week, Clear Creek Amana proved a point on Friday night that they are no fluke and are very much legitimate contenders for the 4A title this season. Taking on the Tigers, who have won their last 4 matchups in a row over the Clippers, the Clippers struck right away and never let up offensively, maintaining their lead the entire game. The Tigers' defense simply had no way of slowing them down, as the Clippers racked up a combined 427 yards of offense. Offensively, the Clippers have averaged 35.6 PPG, ranking 3rd highest in the conference through 5 games, and with that production, they should continue to be dangerous as they enter the back half of their regular season.

Top Performer: [player_tooltip player_id='1596516' first='Texton' last='Bollers'] (JR) - Bollers enjoyed another well-rounded performance as he burned the Tigers' defense with his arm and his legs. Bollers finished 14 of 25 for 239 yards and a TD while rushing for 100 yards on 17 carries (5.9 YPC) and a rushing TD.

The result of this matchup was ultimately disappointing considering how exciting it looked on paper between the two powerhouse units of the 4A conference, but the Warriors were in full control from the start. Relying on their ever-potent rushing attack, the Warriors racked up 258 yards on the ground (5.9 YPC) and 4 rushing TDs. While the Dodgers were able to stay close offensively with the Warriors, gaining 335 yards of total offense, the Warriors' defense did an excellent job at not breaking and keep the Dodgers out of the end zone for most of the game, allowing the Warriors to hold on to the win and their undefeated record.

Top Performer: Carter Hayes (SR) - Hayes was the standout in the Warriors' backfield on Friday night as he proved most consistent in finding paydirt, finishing with 44 rushing yards on 12 carries and 3 TDs while adding a 9 yard reception. He added 4.5 tackles (4 solo) and a fumble recovery on defense.
