Expert Analysis

Bollers was making his first varsity start at QB, replacing an injured senior against one of the state’s top teams. The sophomore handled himself well and showed maturity in not trying to do too much with his natural gifts, which include a strong arm, speed and quickness. Bollers finished 14 of 26 for 194 yards and a touchdown against one interception. His highlight play came on the first series, when he put his talents on display in dropping a dime on a receiver for a long TD. It’s really just a matter of development through reps for Bollers, who also stands out on the baseball diamond. In-game experience will help maximize a complete skill set. Athleticism keeps open doors to other positions, but it’s well worth seeing what plays out behind center first.

on Friday night, the sophomore’s physical traits as a quarterback immediately stand out, especially taking JV snaps. At 6’1″ and 170 pounds, Bollers is a long, mobile and athletic quarterback that shows the ability to navigate the pocket and bring the ball down and run it when he needs to.
He wasn’t perfect through the air, but Bollers showed flashes of a gorgeous deep ball, the ability to throw the ball over the middle, and he lofted a ball to the opposite side of the field to his receiver in the corner of the endzone for a touchdown — the only score I saw for CCA while in Tiffin.

Bollers comes from good blood lines. His father played football at Iowa, and his older brother just finished up his junior season at Cal.

has a bright future in football but the baseball diamond could be his path. Texton operated as CCA’s freshman team quarterback last season, recording 19 touchdowns. Shortly into his freshman video highlights, we can see potential on both sides of the ball. He picks off a pass and takes it to the house playing linebacker on the opening clip. He then runs for a touchdown playing quarterback in Clip 2. The elders may argue with me, but Texton looks like the best athlete of the Bollers bunch. And that’s saying something,
