Dao jumped onto the Prep Redzone radar two years ago at a 7-on-7 tournament in Nashville. The performance has proven prophetic with his development into a key contributor as a Clear Creek Amana sophomore in 2025. When I scouted Dao during a game against highly-ranked Newton on Oct. 10, he led the Clippers with 7.5 tackles. If you were wondering about his speed and athleticism, the 10th-grader averaged 20.5 yards on a pair of kick returns. As you would imagine from that diverse set of skills, Dao stands out for his speed and ability to cover a lot of ground on defense. It works well at linebacker in the CCA system and might be his home on the next level, but his abilities also would translate into the safety spot in certain schemes.

The future Clear Creek Amana Clipper is an Iowa prospect to keep an eye on as he wraps up his middle school football career this fall. Dao is a three-sport athlete who excels in baseball and wrestling, in addition to football, having won multiple state championships on the mat in Iowa. He initially flashed in front of various PRZ Next scouts last spring at the Music City Mayhem 7v7 tournament, as he was named MVP of the championship game, helping Hot Feet Sports win the 12U bracket. He is already very well together with great full-body strength. He’s somewhere between a wide receiver and tight end at this point, using his size to bully defenders. He does a good job of using his lower body strength and elbows to box out defenders on 50/50 balls–exactly like someone going up for a rebound. Additionally, he catches the ball very naturally and looks comfortable doing so, which is somewhat surprising given his physical nature in every other of his skill set.
