Which Olentangy Berlin Prospects Shined in Their Week 5 Victory

On Friday night, I traveled to Westerville for a Division 1 Region 3 showdown. 2-2 Olentangy Berlin took the bus trip over to face off against 3-1 Westerville Central. Olentangy Berlin went home with an impressive 24-14 road win. Six players caught my eye and deserve a write-up, so let's get into it.

Knapke has been getting a lot of hype as the season has progressed, and I can see why. He's got wheels and can pose a threat on key downs for opposing defensive coordinators. His ball pops out of his hand and overall has an impressive spin. He's accurate over the middle of the field and was rarely off his rhythm. Obviously, there will need to be season-over-season progression, but you can make a case that Austin is one of the more explosive passers in Columbus.

Cooper has done a good job filling out his frame since last season and looks much fitter to play four quarters of varsity football. He was a versatile key for the Bears. He played out wide as a receiver, took some handoffs as a running back, and played safety for the Berlin defense. His speed and quickness are lethal if he gets into open space. Cooper has a glass ceiling and could be someone who blows up here soon with his skill set.

Abe possesses an impressive frame, playing strong with his listed size. He played as a boundary corner and wide receiver Friday night. He glides athletically and has burner potential after the catch. Defensively, he made big plays down the stretch, including an interception. He's confident in his down field coverage and can use his length to swat passes away.

Owen is an explosive piece of the Bears' pie. He has burst out of the backfield. He can read the defense and has the athleticism to cut it outside when needed. Defensively, he's quick and a handful. He can set the edge and plays with discipline.

Nolan had a good game on Friday night. He's got a quick release off the line that helps him separate as a pass catcher early in plays. He's physical on the line of scrimmage as a run blocker. His physicality doesnt end with his blocking, as he can fight through contact to bring down passes as well, just as he did for his touchdown catch Friday.

https://twitter.com/NPitzer89/status/2101300661845369307?s=20

Max was a big part of stopping the Westerville Central run game. He made several key tackles on big downs and was active in the box all night long.
