I got out to my Alma Mater on Friday night to watch Vestaburg host St. Louis! Coming into this game, I was aware of a few players, particularly a couple from St. Louis that have camped with us in the past. I was pleasantly surprised at how many more prospects I was able to see play a hard fought game that saw Vestaburg come away with a 16-0 win, snapping a 10-game losing streak. Below are some quick hitting evaluations on a few prospects that impressed me.

This was the prospect I knew the most about coming into the game, but this was my first time seeing him play in person. The 2-way star played hard and brought the energy.

Offensively, Brock primarily lined up as a FB, both lead blocking and toting the rock himself. As you'd expect, defenders had a hard time getting a solo tackle on him. He simply ran through any arm tackles, and lowered his shoulder and ran over smaller defenders. Beyond that, he did a great job of lead blocking and creating holes.

Defensively, he was just as big of an issue. Regularly finding himself in the backfield, Brock was bringing the power and punishing ball carriers. He stays low, anchors down with a strong lower body and does a great job of controlling gaps.

Extremely impressive day for the sophomore who is on a superb trajectory to develop into a highly sought after prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2085112' first='Brody' last='Allen'] was another sophomore that did a lot of the heavy lifting for the Sharks on Friday night. At QB, I liked what he was able to do as a runner. He allowed the offense to block man on man and Brody was able to exploit the weak spots for some solid yardage.

Defensively, it felt like he was everywhere. He was stepping up in the run game to fill gaps and clean up tackles. He didn't have any issue dropping back and covering in space either. He had a handful of plays where the Vestaburg QB had a guy, but Allen was able to step into the throwing lane and take it away.

I think the highest upside is on defense, but he still has plenty of time to continue to hone his craft on both sides of the ball.

I have covered a lot of really good running backs over the years, but Lucas is one of the most shifty and crafty backs I have gotten the chance to cover. The fact that he's only a sophomore makes it that much more impressive. Beyond that, it felt like he was a part of every pivotal defensive play for the Wolverines.

For starters, his vision is extremely impressive. He's patient to let the blocks develop, and then he accelerates through the hole and makes it a nightmare for defenders to break down and tackle him.

He's also absolutely tough as nails. He took a number of big shots, and kept popping up. He put his shoulder down and initiated the contact with some defenders, and they definitely too the worst of it.

Impressive day by the sophomore that will be incredibly fun to watch over the coming years.

Michael was a clear leader on that offensive and defensive line. His effort was excellent all night, and was able to neutralize some really good defensive linemen, as well as contribute defensively.

Offensively, Caudill uses his hands well. He has a strong initial punch and did a great job of keeping a wide base, not getting off balance or crossed up. Even against guys that were bigger than him, he stayed low and relied on his technique to still create a hole for his back.

Defensively, Caudill showed good bend and footwork to get around blockers. He shed blocks well and kept an arm free at all times.

One of the few seniors on the team, it was clear that Caudill was a leader that his team relies on. Great showing by Michael on both sides of the ball.

Brehm is a do-it-all kid for Vestaburg that lines up wherever he's needed and does his job at a high level. He's quick, he's tough and does a great job of staying disciplined.

I think the DB position is where he can thrive the most, as he is able to flip his hips and run with receivers, stop and go on a dime and close the gap when receivers get separation. He also displays good ball skills and can play the ball on every rep and contest anything coming his way.

Brehm is going to be an X-factor for this Wolverines team going forward, and will be vital to their success.
