Merrick has become a mainstay on the camp tour this summer. I am not sure there is anyone more active in this capacity than him. The 2029 defensive lineman has really shown out on the circuit. Merrick’s motor never stops and the sturdy built lineman does not get pushed of his spot. I am extremely impressed with the variety of moves that the young lineman has in his bag. His light feet combined with raw power have made this young man a name to watch as we move forward. I expect he will see a lot of double teams in the fall but I’m not sure that will matter.

Merrick is another underclassmen whose performance you would not be able to tell from. During his evaluation I was really impressed with was his hand placement and his ability to use them to free up space from the oline. That coupled with his high motor made for a really good overall showing. Brock to me shows he has enough strength to lineup at nose while also being finesse enough to play the 3 tech.

I absolutely love when small-town kids sign up for these events. Getting the opportunity to compete against talent from all over the state, and putting themselves on the big stage in front of scouts and coaches can be monumental. I will be watching Brock’s technique and the way he moves. I’ll be watching his bend and seeing how he does against some of the talented offensive linemen we have signed up. A good day for Merrick could boost his stock a ton over the coming months.

Merrick had an extremely productive season, with a very versatile role for the Sharks in 2025. Offensively, he played the fullback position to perfection. Great run blocking and examples of springing the ball carrier free with a key block. He also took a handful of screen reps, and was able to gash the defense. As expected, he also was great between the tackles. In short yardage situations, he bullied his way through the line behind his pads. Defensively, Brock came off the edge with a solid first step and bad intentions. He projects as a gap controlling DT by the end of his high school career, but as he currently stands, he’s a high level EDGE/FB.
