NFL WR legend Randy Moss used to say it; "My goal is to the take the ball deep, take the top off the defense and if I can't to it, nobody going to get to it." That quote right there is what we look for when we are looking at deep threat wide receiver prospects in the state of Nebraska and we have a crop of talented ones on this list here below. But also, we have ones that also rule the short game and elevate around the secondary for big splash plays in the passing game. These are the six that took the top off with their Midseason tape.

Matthew has really shown a knack as a deep threat for the Elkhorn passing offense that has numerous big plays deep downfield. This young man shows off not only determined hands, but from what you can see from a catch difficulty perspective, he surely passes the eye test quickly. The 6'1 180 pounder is a fluid route-runner that has a productive route-tree that find seperation very well over the middle of the field and runs a productive route tree on those deep routes as well. There's a good reason why he has a ton of NAIA offers to go around, but I feel grades out closer to the D2 steal as one that should standout as a senior eval to watch for.

A 2027 wide receiver that I am going to say right now is way undervalued in our 2027 rankings is Gretna East's [player_tooltip player_id='1818750' first='Quinn' last='Bera']. Quinn has been averaging 25 yards per catch thus far, and you can see why that is with his midseason tape he's put together. He's one of the most explosive slot receivers you are going to find in Class B to date that has an elusive route-running ability and great hands no matter what his catch difficulty entails. The 5'10 175 pounder is one of two wide receivers that will be playing on Saturdays, as [player_tooltip player_id='1552268' first='Carver' last='Fritchen'] just committed to Northwestern (IA) and Quinn has a plethora of D2 and NAIA offers in his pocket from this summer at prospect camps.

TWITTER

A speedstewr of a route-runner that we featured on our Lincoln All-City Team before the season, is Lincoln Northwest 2027 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='2236843' first='Zavier' last='Wells']. His cutting ability over the middle of the field can quickly get the seperation you are looking for on deep routes as Zavier has grown from a season ago with his ball-tracking ability on those deeper throws in my eyes with more poise. He has started his 2026 sesaon by averaging a shade over a first down and a half per catch (16.1). He's one that has excellent position flexibility for the next-level as I keep going back and forth positionally where I see Zavier at the next-level. A sleeper in this 2027 class that holds just one NAIA offer thus far and is one that surprisingly wasn't ranked yet.

TWITTER

Our WR2 in the 2028 Nebraska rankings surely has shown why his seperation ability is one of the best you'll see in this 2028 class thus far is Omaha Westview's [player_tooltip player_id='1870044' first='Kingston' last='Moore']. He has sneaky elusiveness in the open field after the catch as one that it seems dares the secondary to test him on his change of direction. You also have to put a high value on his straight-line and vision after the catch as Kingston is a pass-catcher that is very smooth with his lower body. This is a 2028 wide receiver in my eyes that you offer soon, not later.

TWITTER

Hudson is a two-way weapon not just as a wide receiver, but is a huge asset to Skutt Catholic's return game. Hudson is one that has been a threat for the Skyhawks in the screen game, as Hudson is a wide receiver that has great vision and has accumulated a lot of his receiving yards this season way after the catch. His durability that he has for his size is excellent as you can tell that Hudson is a well-versed athlete. If you want verified speed too, Hudson runs a 10.91 100-meter dash on the track, so that speed translation should coorelate at the next-level, Has a lot of Division 1 interest right now and just off a gameday visit at Wyoming last weekend as a swiss army knife that I surely have a stockriser already in this 2028 class.

You might take a look at the route-running ability and the vertical from the first clip of Cam Ahlers midseason tape, and think there's no way this young man's only a sophomore but indeed the Lincoln Standing Bear wide receiver is. Not only that, but he boosts elite size and length at 6'3 170 pounds that you have to get excited about from a development standpoint with two more years left of HS football to get under his belt. Those long arms come up to fruitition quickly too as he's really good for his age as far as timing his length to utilze that vertical on his routes. It's easy to see why that he's going to be in the running for one of the best wide receivers amongst the 2029 class when the rankings come out here soon.

TWITTER
