Here's a look at the Prep Redzone Iowa Player of the Week for each class:

CLASS 5A

Cooper would be the first to credit his offensive line for his performance in Friday's rewarding win against defending state champion Dowling Catholic. While the guys up front deserve their flowers, Cooper is worthy of his own bouquet. The senior running back rumbled 29 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns in helping end the Maroons' 15-game winning streak. I watched Cooper in Week 2 at Liberty. He flashed a power game that you don't often see at this level. His ability to drive through would-be tacklers and keep pushing forward wears down a defense. What impressed me as much as the strength was how agile and nimble he carries the size. Cooper can make guys miss and hit the gas when reaching an opening. That he's still not receiving more interest on the recruiting trail is surprising.

CLASS 4A

The Northern Iowa commitment delivered in an important win against previously unbeaten Glenwood Friday night. Six of his 7.5 tackles were solo stops. He collected 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks during the 27-13 win. Jones is a disruptive defender capable of blowing up the opposition's plans. It creates turnovers and negative plays that disable the offense. He succeeds with a impressive combination of strength and athleticism. Jones overpowers smaller guys and is too fast for bigger ones. The Panthers did well in securing his pledge, and they might receiver another up-close look at him during the state championships at the UNI-Dome in November.

CLASS 3A

Sioux Center improved to 4-0 with a 52-27 victory Friday, when Himba's dynamic set of skills were on full display. The senior completed 8 of 13 throws for 150 yards and a touchdown, and rushed 19 times for 265 yards and four scores. I named the Dordt commitment as the X-Factor for the Warriors before the season, writing: The present skills with potential to develop into much more show up when we pop on the 11th-grade highlight video. There's arm strength to make all the throws and a good feel in the pocket. Himba sees the field well and gets through progressions in a timely manner. He stresses defenses when the play breaks down and the field opens up for yards on the ground.

CLASS 2A

Crestwood was faced with heading out on the road for New Hampton's homecoming on Friday. It turned out to be a challenge the Cadets welcomed as evidenced by their 35-0 victory. Loden led the way for the winners. The senior signal caller threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns, and picked up 111 yards and a score on the ground. Loden's junior highlight video begins with him hitting a couple of deep throws. There's arm strength and accuracy when stretching the field. Loden is a good athlete that moves well behind center, extending plays with his legs or picking up real estate when the field opens up. A projectable frame with agility provides him with a path to continued development at quarterback or sliding to another position at the next level.

CLASS 1A

South Hardin reached the state semifinals last season and have jetted out to a 4-0 record in 2026 despite losing a lot of production to graduation. Weig has been a big part of the Tigers continuing to roll as the first-year starter at quarterback. That was on display Friday night during a 42-0 win at Eagle Grove. The sophomore threw for 264 yards and five touchdowns. In watching Weig's highlights on his Hudl page, we witness a signal caller that gets through his progressions in a timely manner, exhibits an easy throwing motion and arm strength to push the ball down the field. It's a projectable frame capable of filling out and adding strength. Weig is a good athlete that could move off the position if a staff on the next level sees that as the best path.

CLASS A

Clevenger impressed me when watching Saint Ansgar compete in the state semifinals last November in Cedar Falls. He's followed up a fine sophomore year with a sensational junior campaign. Friday, Clevenger was at it again during a thrilling, 34-33 victory at Newman Catholic in a battle of Class A unbeatens. He racked up 12.5 tackles, nine of which were solo stops. He carried the ball 13 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and took his lone kick return back 40 yards. Clevenger is a athlete with speed and versatility. His projectable frame is capable of developing on both sides of the ball. The recruiting stock was rising entering the year and the arrow continues pointing up.

Woodbine is on a mission in 2026 after coming up a win short of a state title last season. The latest victory was an 88-6 ambush of a Stanton team that was 3-1 entering Friday's contest. The Vikings were overwhelmed by Stanton, who received a dominant defensive effort from Cogdill. The junior delivered eight tackles for loss and five sacks in the win. There are a few clips on his Hudl page that highlight his strengths. Cogdill's power stands out on the front, where he also showcases burst and agility as a defensive lineman. He lists center and nose guard as his positions. His skills fit nicely at those positions, where he operates with leverage and pushes opponents around.
