Clevenger impressed me when watching Saint Ansgar compete in the state semifinals last November in Cedar Falls. He’s followed up a fine sophomore year with a sensational junior campaign. Friday, Clevenger was at it again during a thrilling, 34-33 victory at Newman Catholic in a battle of Class A unbeatens. He racked up 12.5 tackles, nine of which were solo stops. He carried the ball 13 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and took his lone kick return back 40 yards. Clevenger is a athlete with speed and versatility. His projectable frame is capable of developing on both sides of the ball. The recruiting stock was rising entering the year and the arrow continues pointing up.

He embarked on the championship game with 43.0 tackles (29 solo, 6.5 TFL), a forced fumble and a pair of fumble recoveries. Clevenger averaged 24.3 yards on three kick returns, too. He appears to just be scratching the surface of his considerable upside as a long-limbed athlete that can run. Clevenger will be one to watch moving forward.
