South Hardin reached the state semifinals last season and have jetted out to a 4-0 record in 2026 despite losing a lot of production to graduation. Weig has been a big part of the Tigers continuing to roll as the first-year starter at quarterback. That was on display Friday night during a 42-0 win at Eagle Grove. The sophomore threw for 264 yards and five touchdowns. In watching Weig’s highlights on his Hudl page, we witness a signal caller that gets through his progressions in a timely manner, exhibits an easy throwing motion and arm strength to push the ball down the field. It’s a projectable frame capable of filling out and adding strength. Weig is a good athlete that could move off the position if a staff on the next level sees that as the best path.
A tall, lanky quarterback at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Weig commanded the JV offense last season for South Hardin, standing in the pocket and delivering some rockets in the passing game. Stepping up in the pocket to avoid pressure and firing passes down field with an effortless throwing motion, Weig puts some nice touch on throws and isn’t afraid to look for the deep shot. He has the look of a QB that will step up as a junior and handle business for the Tigers in the fall.
Last season, Weig completed 15-of-30 passes (50%) for 138 yards and a score on varsity, but his tape looks much better than his stats did in limited action.
South Hardin enjoyed a historic season advancing to the UNI-Dome as a state semifinalist in 2025. Weig backed up a senior quarterback during the Tigers’ run to Cedar Falls. He completed half of his 30 throws for 138 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. Weig added two tackles. His sophomore highlight video is a mixture of junior varsity and varsity clips. On it, we witness a prospect with a projectable frame capable of adding good weight and strength without the loss of mobility. Weig moves well in the pocket, keeping plays alive off schedule until he can unleash strong throws that are able to fit into tight windows. If he wins the starting job behind center in 2026, Weig could be a prime breakout candidate.
