Must-Watch Matchups South Dakota: Week 4

These games are becoming big resume builders and the matchups we have for you this week are games that could make or break the momentum for these six programs. Here are your Week 4 Must-Watch Matchups in South Dakota! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">11AA Watertown vs 11AA Pierre T.F. Riggs </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two familiar names to the Must-Watch Matchups. Watertown dropped a heartbreaker in last week's game to the other top 3 team in SD 11AA, Tea Area. These three teams are jostling for that top spot and this game will do a lot in deciding that race. Pierre T.F Riggs has a gauntlet of games these next three weeks, playing Watertown this week followed by Huron and Tea Area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Watertown's NDSU commit and senior TE [player_tooltip player_id='1575917' first='Hunter' last='Peterson']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/hunter-peterson-3/"></a> is a handful after the catch, seemingly bouncing off many of the would-be tacklers. [player_tooltip player_id='1293075' first='Lincoln' last='Schutt']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/lincoln-schutt/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='2159306' first='Tyson' last='Miller']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/tyson-miller-2/"></a> are still benefitting from carrying the ball behind this big Offensive Line led by [player_tooltip player_id='2110136' first='Andrew' last='Dahl']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/andrew-dahl/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='2045699' first='Conner' last='Christianson'], who are both around 6'3" 280. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We've covered Pierre T.F. Riggs and the #1 player in all of South Dakota, Penn State TE commit [player_tooltip player_id='1027999' first='Cooper' last='Terwilliger']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/cooper-terwilliger/"></a> in a previous matchup. This week I want to highlight QB [player_tooltip player_id='2159836' first='Jerren' last='Deal'] and WR [player_tooltip player_id='1320802' first='Carter' last='Schiefelbein']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/carter-schiefelbein/"></a> whose connection provides many of the big splash plays for this high powered offense. Deal's ability to put a ball on target on time rewards Schiefelbein's ability to get behind a defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">11AAA Brandon Valley vs 11AAA Sioux Falls Jefferson</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Big time matchup in South Dakota's top division. Jefferson has taken over as the top team in Sioux Falls and looks like a team ready to compete for the State Championship. Brandon Valley is trying to defend their title from last year and is looking good so far at 3-0. These are two very good teams and it should make for an exciting watch as a neutral fan. Ball doesn't get much better than this in South Dakota. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brandon Valley has the South Dakota state DL/TE commit [player_tooltip player_id='1617596' first='Austin' last='Dowd']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/austin-dowd/"></a> and a very young and talented OL/DL. This includes three top 10 2029 recruits,<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/landon-voight/"> </a>[player_tooltip player_id='2234696' first='Landon' last='Voight'], [player_tooltip player_id='2239230' first='Grant' last='Blomgren']<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/grant-blomgren/"></a> and [player_tooltip player_id='2072435' first='Wyatt' last='Sitzman'].</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jefferson's QB to wideout connection is tough to stop. WR [player_tooltip player_id='1293067' first='Jase' last='Unzen'] runs crisp routes and QB [player_tooltip player_id='2110227' first='Cason' last='Mediger'] looks the part of a next level signal caller with his arm talent. The South Dakota State commit [player_tooltip player_id='1665681' first='Anthony' last='Patron'] is all over the field on the defensive side of the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">9A Freeman vs 9A Centerville</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Freeman and Centerville are both undefeated coming into the matchup. Both teams put up a lot of points and I predict a lot of explosive plays and long TDs in this one. It could end up being a back and forth track meet, no offense to the defensive coordinators of these fine programs. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Freeman has a creative modern offense that uses formation and motion to get their guys the looks they want. Freeman's quarterback is the junior Tayden Kerrigan. He has athletic weapons in WR Easton Tschetter and ATH [player_tooltip player_id='2138939' first='David' last='Walter']. Walter is also a basketball player and shows it on the field, going up and making contested catches. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Centerville is an incredibly fun team to watch because they just get the ball in the hands of their playmakers and let them do their thing, which means a lot of screens, short passes, and scramble drills.
