3 weeks in, 3 games down for Iowa's 3A conference, and the standings continue to shake up quite a bit after another hectic week of football, with a wide range of blowouts, close-games, and upsets that beheld the conference, and with most of the 3A games this week shifting toward the inner-conference matchups, the standings will continue to shift and change at a rapid pace over the next few weeks. We take a look today at the top results and standouts from Class 3A Iowa to recap week 3 of the 2026 high school football season!

Top Games:

Wahlert Catholic vs. Decorah: 13-7

A major road upset with one of the top 3A teams in the state coming into Decorah and upsetting one of the top 4A teams in the state. Decorah had one the previous matchup in a close battle, but they were almost completely shut down at home on Friday night, mustering just 192 yards of total offense while also throwing 2 costly interceptions. The Golden Eagles were in near full control the entire game, with Decorah being held out of the endzone until the 3rd quarter when they were already down 2 scores, and ultimately were not able to find the endzone again, allowing the Golden Eagles to pull off the stunner on the road, handing the Vikings their first 1-2 start to the year since 2022.

Top Performer: [player_tooltip player_id='1616422' first='JP' last='Elbert'] (SR) - Elbert didn't have a spectacular game, but was largely effective and proficient with very few mistakes, which was exactly the kind of game the Golden Eagles needed on Friday night. Elbert finished 14 of 19 for 106 yards while leading the team with 80 rushing yards on 18 carries (4.4 YPC) and a rushing TD. He also added 4 punts, averaging an impressive 42.5 yards per punt.

PCM vs. Williamsburg: 35-28

PCM has had a rough schedule to start the year, but for a team that has been perennially a contender in the 2A conference, an 0-3 start seems unfathomable. Unfortunately for them, they attained that on Friday night against Williamsburg, who exploded to a 35-14 lead through 3 quarters, with the Mustangs' defense having simply no answers for them. Finally, PCM broke through in the final 12 minutes with a huge swing of leverage, scoring 14 unanswered, and getting the ball back, driving down the field within the final 2 minutes to try to tie the game. In the end, the Raiders' defense came through when it mattered the most, getting a key stuff on 4th and 4 in the final seconds to swat the comeback in what was a thoroughly engaging finish.

Top Performer: [player_tooltip player_id='2205024' first='Cash' last='Brown'] (JR) - Brown looked very efficient and effective throughout the night as he was able to gash the Mustangs' defense, throwing for a career-high 4 TDs as he helped the Raiders build a hefty lead that would ultimately prove to be too much for PCM to overcome.

Anamosa vs. Center Point-Urbana: 14-10

Despite a favorable matchup of 3A over 2A at home, the battle between the Blue Raiders and the Stormin Pointers proved to be a close low-scoring affair. The Pointers dominated in terms of total yardage (334-181), but were also stumped with 2 turnovers and several missed opportunities, allowing Anamosa to stay in the game for all 4 quarters. In the end, Anamosa was simply unable to get anything going offensively, particularly hampered by a vapid passing game, and the Stormin Pointers were able to evade upset and come out victorious, with the team moving up to 2-1, already matching the win total they had from last season.

Top Performer: [player_tooltip player_id='1646106' first='Riley' last='Haney'] (SR) - Haney delivered with a steady performance on the ground, accumulating 126 of the team's total 166 rushing yards on Friday night while averaging 5 YPC, adding a rushing TD and a 2PT conversion.

Other Notable Results from Week 3:

Clear Lake vs. Webster City: 70-14

Washington vs. Burlington: 49-19

Atlantic vs. Des Moines Christian: 47-0

Oskaloosa vs. Mount Pleasant: 42-0

Solon vs. Mount Vernon: 41-7

Sioux Center vs. Le Mars: 37-20

Assumption vs. Muscatine: 35-14

Central DeWitt vs. West Liberty: 35-21

Iowa Falls-Alden vs. Hampton-Dumont-CAL: 34-7

Forest City vs. Algona: 30-20

Carroll vs. Humboldt: 29-13

Waukon vs. West Delaware: 28-8

Fort Madison vs. Central Lee: 28-12

MOC-Floyd Valley vs. Storm Lake: 28-14

Des Moines North vs. Saydel: 28-14

Perry vs. Woodward-Granger: 14-13

Top 10 Standouts from Week 3:

QB [player_tooltip player_id='1204540' first='Jaxson' last='McIntire'] (SR) - Clear Lake: 11/17, 265 yards, 5 TDs, 5 carries, 39 rushing yards (7.8 YPC), 3 tackles

QB [player_tooltip player_id='1906865' first='Tate' last='Olsen'] (SR) - Des Moines Christian: 13/20, 253 yards, 5 TDs

QB [player_tooltip player_id='2087168' first='Shane' last='Scott'] (SR) - Saydel: 14/18, 248 yards, 4 TDs, 11 carries, 73 rushing yards (6.6 YPC), 4.5 tackles (4 solo), 1 2PT conversion, 2 punts (44 YPA)

QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1532898' first='Maddox' last='Kelley'] (SR) - Solon: 11/15, 240 yards, 3 TDs, 11 carries, 86 rushing yards (7.8 YPC), 1 rushing TD, 1.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery

QB [player_tooltip player_id='2118302' first='Paul' last='Beswick'] (SR) - West Delaware: 4/7, 88 yards, 1 TD, 21 carries, 188 rushing yards (9 YPC), 3 rushing TDs, 2 tackles, 1 TFL

WR [player_tooltip player_id='2158684' first='Parker' last='Smit'] (JR) - Sioux Center: 6 receptions, 172 yards (28.7 YPC), 3 TDs, 1 tackle

LB [player_tooltip player_id='1844805' first='Raif' last='Baack'] (SR) - Clear Lake: 17.5 tackles (12 solo), 2 TFLs

LB Brody Shipler (SR) - Algona: 4 tackles, 4 TFLs, 2 sacks

ATH Cameron Lauer (SO) - Perry: 10 tackles (8 solo), 2.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks

ATH Tyson Spargur (SR) - Saydel: 6.5 tackles (6 solo), 1 TFL, 2 INTs, 4 receptions, 76 yards, 1 receiving TD
