In this breakdown, we talk about five different players that should have been in the latest update and you can make an argument that they should have been relatively high for their position and in the overall class.

Newcastle running back [player_tooltip player_id='1837353' first='Ben' last='Rogers'] is definitely one we just missed and should have added in the latest update. We knew about Rogers after last year and he impressed us once again when we saw him in the spring. Rogers would then continue to back up the hype last week when they hosted rival Tuttle. We got a firsthand look at Rogers fighting for every yard against a Tuttle defense that is incredibly hard to run against. If we looked at where Rogers is right now, compared to the rest of the state's 2027 RB class, he's definitely a top ten guy at the position. And from people we've talked to, his recruitment is starting to heat up in a major way. He was incredibly productive last season, despite not being the guy at the running back position. Now, he's the marquee back and should be among the top running backs in Class 5A and in the state from a production standpoint.

Lincoln Christian two-way standout [player_tooltip player_id='1830474' first='Colton' last='Monsey'] is a 2027 prospect that could end up benefitting from a position change this offseason. He's moved from right tackle to tight end and also starts for the Bulldogs on the defensive line. In their season opener, Monsey was one of the better football players on the field and he's a guy that passes the eye test when you see him in person. Lincoln Christian has plenty of prospects you need to know about moving forward and Monsey is definitely one of them. It will be interesting to see what kind of attention he can get on the offensive side of the ball because he has some legitimate talent at the tight end position. Defensively, he's an absolute game-wrecker coming off the edge and showcased that when we watched him in person against Jones. He's a versatile prospect with a high upside moving forward this season.

The state's 2027 linebacker class is incredibly deep and has the potential to be the deepest position group in this class. But there is no doubt that Bishop McGuinness linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1836875' first='Jackson' last='Blackburn'] belongs in the discussion as one of the better guys in this group. Blackburn has picked up a ton of D2, D3 and NAIA offers and he was very productive last season as a junior. He finished with nearly 100 tackles and through the first couple games of the season, he's picked up right where he left off. The McGuinness senior is also spending some time on the offensive side of the ball but there is no doubt that he's a linebacker that belongs among the 2027 ranks. We'll get a chance to watch Blackburn in person this week as the Irish host Carl Albert in a rematch of last year's 5A state championship game. It's a big stage for Blackburn to shine bright and show again that he belongs.

Yukon offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='2381553' first='Julian' last='Jenkins'] is a newcomer to Oklahoma after moving from out of state and landing with the Millers. He comes into the state as an established offensive lineman prospect in the 2027 class that already holds double digit offers. When we published the 2027 rankings, we didn't know about Jenkins but that's certainly not the case anymore. Not only do we know about Jenkins but Yukon football has exploded to start the 2026 season. They are off to a 2-0 start and just beat rival Mustang. Jenkins is the foundational piece to a Yukon offensive line that has paved the way for an offense that has put up big numbers through the first two games. The state's 2027 OL class is incredibly deep and the talent at the top is next level. Jenkins is quickly showing that he belongs among that group and we only have a couple games to go off of with him.

This one was one of the tougher omissions after the fact in the 2027 class. We watched Bartlesville wide receiver and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='2198337' first='Price' last='Lusk'] in person back in May and he absolutely dominated at our spring showcase event. He was one of the top testers, looked the part in person and then was lights out in the one on one portion of camp. For whatever reason, Lusk slipped through the cracks but he definitely belongs in the rankings and is one of the better receivers in this class. He showed that in the season opener as he exploded for over 200 yards. Lusk has size, legitimate speed and is a big play guy. Lusk was at Broken Arrow but moved to Bartlesville for his senior season and he's already made the most of it so far. We missed this one and there's no doubt that he's a guy that belongs among the best in the state's 2027 class. He's another prospect with a high ceiling.
