10 Outstanding Offensive Linemen

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I have been keeping track of some of the best offensive linemen across the state early this season, and I'm going to profile them here in this article. Offensive Linemen can come in all shapes and sizes, but the one thing that makes a great offensive lineman is heart, and through all of the highlights I've watched this season, these guys have shown the grit, focus, and determination to dominate the man across from them at the line of scrimmage on a consistent basis. He's been playing with excellent technique, and he's a big reason why Cannon School is currently undefeated this season. Playing the left tackle position, his athleticism is off the charts. So much so, that when you look at his highlights, he is the long snapper for the punt team, and consistently one of the first guys down the field covering punts! His highlight film earlier this season against North Gaston is one of the best films I've seen from an offensive lineman. Every play he was driving his man 10-15 yards off the ball and finishing in an impressive fashion. The best word or phrase I used for him was "instant pancakes" off of the line of scrimmage. He was just physically dominant in this game and his team has been playing well this season at 3-1 so far this season. Well, of course I had to check out the film to see the work first-hand. Cooper didn't have a full highlight from the game, but in the team highlights I saw, he was very strong at the point of attack and didn't allow any up field penetration. That strength is evident when you turn on the tape and watch him work. The drive off the ball from his interior offensive line position is impressive, and I like the way Joseph can fit and drive against defensive tackles. Shelby likes to get Hollifield on the move, and when he pulls and looks for work, he finds it, fits it, and gets it out of the way on pulls and in the open field in the screen game. Tee also flips and plays both left and right tackle, and that is something that takes some special talent with hand placement and footwork being totally different on both sides of the line. At the right tackle spot, when he gets his hands on someone, he swallows them with great arm length and power. I like how he keeps his feet moving on contact, and he shows the athleticism to ride speed rushers around the edge with no problems. From his guard position, Bryce can move well on pulls and clean up his assigned man with power and good form. He has good strength on down blocks and does a good job in pass protection against opposing defensive tackles.
