Versatile 2027 Prospects In New Spots

This is a class that will go down in the history books as one of the best in state history. We've updated our&nbsp;<strong><a href="https://prepredzone.com/oklahoma/rankings/2027-rankings/">2027 rankings to include the Top 200 prospects in the state</a></strong>. We have a ton of individual breakdowns dropping every day to spotlight some of those special prospects. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at seven prospects that are identified as “athletes” where they could end up playing a few different positions. All seven of these guys will take the field with new teams, looking to have an instant impact in 2026. We've watched him at countless 7v7 tournaments in the offseason and he has always been one of the best players on the field. Last season, he played wherever he could to get on the field for Sand Springs as they captured a 6A-2 state title. This spring, he moved to Union and is expected to play on both sides of the ball. He's projecting to be a defensive back at the next level and will get an opportunity to prove it this fall. But don't overlook what he can do on the offensive side of the ball. He was a two-way standout with Tecumseh that past several seasons. This offseason, he's moved over to Seminole and it will be interesting to see how the Chieftains use his skillset. On offense, Thompson is your prototypical outside wide receiver that is a match-up nightmare in a one on one situation. He can beat defenses over the top and also help out the run game as a physical blocker that finishes every play. Defensively, he can be moved around in the secondary and play a few different spots. He's been incredibly productive on both sides of the ball. He comes to the Trojans from Bristow, where he was a very productive player last season. When we first watched Johnson in person, he played multiple positions on both sides of the ball. He's going to bring that same versatility to the Trojans this fall. He joined Jenks this summer so he has had to make up for lost time in the last two months. But offensively, he gives Jenks a player that is a threat to score every time he touches the football. Deroin was incredibly productive for the Rangers last season, putting up a ton of numbers in a successful Nathan Hale offense. This season, he joins the Hornets and looks to make them an instant contender as they move up to Class 6A-2. From everything we've learned about Deroin and his game, he looks to be a prospect for the next level but at a different position. Whether it's on offense or defense. But for now, he's going to be QB1 for the Hornets this season. One of them that happened over the summer was [player_tooltip player_id='1684727' first='Walter' last='Franklin'] coming over from Del City. Franklin is another WR/DB athlete that seems to be incredibly valuable on both sides of the ball. We've gotten a chance to watch Franklin in person a handful of times and he's another prospect that we can't nail down for which side of the ball he's better on. Some days, he seems like a game-changing wide receiver and others, he's a standout in the secondary. [player_tooltip player_id='1024950' first='Ryker' last='Prince'] is one of them and he will be an instant impact player for the Savages on both sides of the ball. Prince is a wide receiver and cornerback and had an outstanding junior season in 2025. Offensively, Prince gives Broken Bow another threat in the pass game. He adds terrific depth and playmaking ability. Defensively, Prince is outstanding at the cornerback position. The last time we watched [player_tooltip player_id='1832582' first='Noah' last='Torrez'] on the football field, he was running for just shy of 400 yards and countless touchdowns in the Class C state championship game. We found out in July that he moved to Marlow and was joining the Outlaws as they moved up from 2A-1 to Class 3A. And honestly, he's an athlete that's going to be able to fit in wherever because of what he can do with the ball in his hands or his ability on the defensive side of the ball. We're fired up to see how he looks in the 11-man game and in our opinion, he makes Marlow a very serious state championship contender in Class 3A.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
