Uncommitted High-Academic 2027s

Occasionally at Prep Redzone, we run a scouting piece with such a narrow focus that it's directed at college recruiters. While a lot has changed in recent years when it comes to recruiting, it's still harder to recruit at schools with stricter academic requirements (and at Division II schools where football scholarships are allocated after academic and other financial aid). Here, I'm highlighting a few uncommitted high-academic 2027 prospects.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Available 2027 High-Academic Prospects</h2>    One of the most talented unoffered prospects in the state, Mensah has a 29 ACT and 4.0 unweighted GPA. He's a talented route runner who has track speed and leaping ability. He wasn't able to fully showcase his receiver skill set last year in an unstable offensive situation, but Berry looks more talented across the board, and Mensah could start to get more looks as a senior.     Capozzi is a big, strong tackle with the flexibility and strength to kick inside at the next level. He's a team leader and experienced starter on the offensive line in a run-heavy system. Still, he has a strong kick step to get to speed rushers off the edge, and the footwork to stay in front of defenders. He added weight this offseason, but didn't seem to lose any quickness in the process.     Hollifield is a talented off-ball linebacker at a school that has produced plenty of talent at that position in the past. A highly athletic player, he has the strength, speed, and versatility to line up in multiple spots and impact both the running and the passing game. A multi-year starter, Hollifield often makes plays off instinct, and frequently beats ball carriers to the hole. He picked up a couple of Division II offers over the summer, and a strong senior year should push him into conversations for Ivy and Patriot League staffs, as well as other academically-rigorous institutions.     One of the state's most productive runners last season, Davis has excellent tape. He's shifty, smart, and difficult to bring down in the open field. He also excels in the classroom, and he should earn opportunities to play at the next level. We have him ranked just inside the top 75 in the state, so it's obvious what we think of his talent. He fought through injury last season, and a full senior year should help him raise his stock.     Laws is one of my favorite prospects in the 2027 class, regardless of position. A slightly undersized pass rusher with plenty of productivity (19 sacks in 2025), we were blown away by how smooth he was in space at both our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/05/prz-expousre-camp-lb-analysis/">Prep Redzone Exposure Camp</a> and at the <a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/06/davidson-academic-mega-camp-review/">Davidson Academic Megacamp</a>. Aside from getting stronger, faster, and more productive, there's nothing that can help your recruitment more than improving your grades.
