The 2026 football season kicks off this week and we're kicking off our coverage with complete and in-depth breakdowns on the state's senior class. This is a class that will go down in the history books as one of the best in state history. We've updated our <a href="https://prepredzone.com/oklahoma/rankings/2027-rankings/">2027 rankings to include the Top 200 prospects in the state</a>. We have a ton of individual breakdowns dropping every day to spotlight some of those special prospects. In this breakdown, we're taking a look at five prospects that are considered “athletes” for their ability to play multiple positions. Tipton athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1832227' first='Chris' last='Addy'] has flown under the radar for the last several years but he started to blow up this spring. We watched Addy in person in the 2024 state championship game and it was hard to miss the impressive-looking athlete. Addy has flown under the radar for a few reasons. He does play at Tipton, which is an 8-man program. But he also isn't on social media and that's a decent part of the battle with getting your name out there nowadays. It doesn't matter where Addy has lined up on the football field, he has routinely been one of the more impressive athletes out there. He really impressed one of our northern writers when he camped in the Dakotas this summer. He would definitely check the box of an athletic freak from every perspective.     Mustang's [player_tooltip player_id='1837461' first='Obama' last='Bell'] was one of our favorite 2027 prospects to watch when we did our spring camp tour back in May and June. Bell is another newcomer to the Mustang roster this offseason after moving from Putnam City West. When we watched the Broncos back in June, Bell was one of the top players on the field and that's on a team that features multiple players that are either committed to or hold offers from P4 programs. Bell was a standout on offense but it was his ability at cornerback that really stood out to us. Bell might end up being a cornerback or somewhere in the secondary at the next level. But for now, we're listing him as an athlete because of his versatility and ability to play both sides of the ball at a very high level.     Union running back and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1684394' first='Reyon' last='Williams'] comes into this season with a ton of momentum after a terrific offseason. Williams has been known for his ability on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker. But this offseason, it was evident that he was going to be very useful to what Union does offensively. The Redhawks have several running backs they can lean on this season but Williams has already showcased this preseason his ability to be a game changer on the offensive side of the ball. When you combine that with what he can do on the defensive side, you have a true two-way threat. Williams will rarely come off the field for Union and is going to be competing against some of the top competition in the state in Class 6A-1.     Claremore added a major playmaker in [player_tooltip player_id='1837293' first='Ayden' last='Gaines'] this offseason. After dominating in every aspect at Oologah last season, he made the move over to Claremore for his senior season. Gaines is a 2027 prospect that is very intriguing to us moving forward. You look at the production that he had last season and it's very difficult not to be impressed. He produced at a high level in just about every way imaginable on offense, with the exception of the line of scrimmage. He also performed well on defense and in special teams. He feels like the ultimate X-factor player that can help whatever team in a variety of ways. He'll look to help Claremore take that next step in 2026 and make another run in the Class 5A playoffs in November.     Shawnee's [player_tooltip player_id='1832403' first='Rahmel' last='Slaughter-Bey'] is a 2027 prospect that we benefitted from watching a handful of times this offseason. First, we watched him at one of our 7v7 tournaments. Then we saw him with the pads on at a team camp in May. Both times, he stood out to us on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he's a complete playmaker at the wide receiver position. But he has the versatility to be moved around on offense. Defensively, he's an outstanding defensive back. Similar to some of the other guys on this breakdown, it's really difficult pinpointing the “right” position for him at the next level. The versatility he plays with is off the charts and there are definitely reasons why he could end up on either side of the ball when it comes to the next level.
