The Chieftains kicked off the season with five consecutive wins but had to forfeit the victory over Bristow due to an ineligible player participating in the game. The hot start included a 50-27 victory over rival Tecumseh. October proved to be a challenge for Seminole going just 2-3 in the month with the forfeit, a loss to Perkins-Tryon and a scoreless loss to Sulphur. The Chieftains claimed an overtime victory on the road at McLoud and bested Mannford 44-34 on Halloween night. The regular season finale came with a road victory at Victory Christian and secured a state playoff appearance. The opening round opponent was a familiar one facing Heritage Hall once again and unfortunately another first round exited handed to the Chieftains at the hands of the Chargers. The 52-34 loss to Heritage Hall ended the Seminole season with a 7-4 record. As the Chieftains look towards 2026 they must deal with just three total starters returning from last season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Chieftains enter the 2026 campaign following back-to-back seasons in which they exited the first round of the playoffs at the hands of Heritage Hall. A shake-up in the district maybe beneficial to Seminole with some new teams on the district slate. An inexperienced team for legendary head coach Mike Snyder enters this 2026 season with just two offensive starters and one defensive starter returning. The Cheiftains must find someone to replace departing quaterback Donavon Garfield who totaled 4,000 yards of total offense. Whoever assumes the role must quickly become comfortable in the role and start producing for the team to have success. <a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/lawson-bordeaux/" data-type="link" data-id="https://prepredzone.com/player/lawson-bordeaux/">Lawson Bordreaux</a>, a 2028 prospect, would appear to be the front runner but Jackson Collins could provide competition. Whoever lines up behind center will benefit from 2027 prospects [player_tooltip player_id='1830961' first='Cashawn' last='Thompson'], a transfer from Tecumseh, and [player_tooltip player_id='2328057' first='Darrien' last='Loya'] at wide receiver. Another receiver to keep an eye on is [player_tooltip player_id='1833812' first='Kenneth' last='Johnson'] who started a few games as a freshman. The offensive line features two-year starter Braiden Bird at left tackle and Bowlegs-transfer [player_tooltip player_id='1831977' first='Sawyer' last='King'] bringing excellent size up front. Defensively [player_tooltip player_id='1828433' first='Carter' last='Childs'] is the lone returning starter. Childs is a two-year starter at inside linebacker. Many of the aforementioned will also play key roles on the defensive side of the ball. At wide receiver, he is a playmaker who is able to create separation and get open versus defensive backs. At 6-6, 270 pounds the Chieftains left tackle has great potential and could turnout to be a big time recruit. Bird is very athletic for his size and is capable of getting to the second level of the defense in the run game or kicking back into pass block to engage a defensive end. He is a physical lineman that seeks contact and is not afraid to engage with the defender. The Knights have not had as much success in recent years but reached the state playoffs for the first time since 1968 with its second straight two-win season and a Class 6A-II playoff berth. The last time NW Classen won more than two games was 2016 when they went 3-7.<br><strong>Sept. 11th - Tecumseh<br></strong>- The "Highway 9 Battle" between Tecumseh and Seminole began in 1970 and has been played every year, minus the 2020 COVID pandemic impacted season, since 1974. The Chieftains hold a 44-8-1 record all-time and Seminole 3-2 over the last five contests.<br><strong>Sept. 18th - Harrah<br></strong>- The Chieftains have won the last two versus the Panthers and nine of the last ten. Over the series, which first began in 1974 and has been played every season since 2014, Seminole is 17-3 versus their opponents to the northwest.<br><strong>Sept. 25th - Pauls Valley<br></strong>- Versus Pauls Valley, the Chieftains are 21-5-2 all-time but the two teams have not met in eight seasons. Seminole has won 9 of the last 10 match-ups. The Panthers went 3-7 last season with all three wins coming in district play. <br><strong>Oct. 2nd - AT Sulphur<br></strong>- The Bulldogs finished the 2025 season Class 3A runner-up and bested the Chieftains 35-0 on the way to a 13-1 season. The Chieftains hold the series advantage with 12 wins and 11 losses but have lost back-to-back in '24 and '25.<br><strong>Oct. 9th - Star Spencer<br></strong>- Seminole is 2-2 all-time versus Star Spencer and won the last two contests, those being in 2014 and 2015. The Bobcats only win last season came versus Northwest Classen on the way to a 1-9 season in 2025.<br><strong>Oct. 15th - AT Kingston<br></strong>- This marks the first contest between the Chieftains and the Redskins. Kingston makes the jump to Class 3A from Class 2A after a Quarterfinals appearance. This could be a test with a short turnaround with a Thursday road contest near the Red River. <br><strong>Oct. 23rd - Lone Grove<br></strong>- The Longhorns and Chieftains have met 13 times entering this year's match-up and the lone win for Lone Grove dates back to 2016. Seminole has won the last two match-ups in a rivarly that has been off-and-on dating back to 1988. <br><strong>Oct. 30th - AT Idabel<br></strong>- This series began in 1960 as Seminole defeated Idabel in the State Quarterfinals, 49-8, on the way to a State Championship. The series renewed for the 2010-2011 scheduling cycle with the Chieftains winning both of those but the Warriors have won the last two contests including a 32-7 victory in 2019. <br><strong>Nov. 6th - AT Madill<br></strong>- This marks the eighth match-up between these two squads and the first since a 2017 victory for the Chieftains. This series, which Seminole holds a 6-1 record in, got its start with a 1985 Chieftain playoff victory. The lone Wildcat victory was a test of the scoreboard in 2016 as Madill won 64-47.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>NOTABLE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Head Coach Mike Snyder joined the Seminole coaching staff in 1972 and became the head coach of the Chieftains in 1980 marking 54 seasons at the intersection of US Route 270 and Route 377. His career wins total surpasses both of those route numbers as coach Snyder is one win away from 400 career victories.
