Now that the first team has been released, we can close the preseason out with second team honors.

Quarterback: [player_tooltip player_id='261907' first='Peyton' last='Houston']

It is no shock that [player_tooltip player_id='261907' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] makes the cut following [player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] being named to the first team. Houston is a great quarterback with a high upside that not many in the state can compete with. He is expected to be a star at the next level, but this season he will have the chance to prove that he is the best quarterback in the state. All eyes on Houston.

Running Back: [player_tooltip player_id='739720' first='Jayden' last='Miles']

[player_tooltip player_id='739720' first='Jayden' last='Miles'] is cut from a different cloth. He isn't the typical size at the running back position, and he is as good as it gets when it comes to speed and physicality. Miles was considered for the first team, which left no doubt when it comes to the second team. Miles deserves this honor.

Wide Receivers: [player_tooltip player_id='2227399' first='Gary' last='Burney Jr.'], [player_tooltip player_id='1250291' first='Alex' last='Fontenot'], [player_tooltip player_id='1372221' first='Cayden' last='Lancelin']

These three were the most clear-cut selections at the position thanks to the upside and the projections that I give them for the upcoming season. They are greatly talented and have the chance to be some of the best playmakers in The Boot as a whole. I believe these three will be great now and later.

Tight End: [player_tooltip player_id='1610241' first='Jude' last='Chamberlain']

In most states, [player_tooltip player_id='1610241' first='Jude' last='Chamberlain'] would be a first-team selection, but I feel the second team is more fitting when it comes to a production standpoint. He is one of my favorite players in the entire state, and I believe he is very underrated. He deserves to be mentioned and is deserving of a list.

Offensive Line: [player_tooltip player_id='1251694' first='Jaylen' last='Haywood'], [player_tooltip player_id='2085243' first='Griffin' last='Vorhaben'], [player_tooltip player_id='1845261' first='Jayden' last='Taylor'], [player_tooltip player_id='2234578' first='Ryan' last='Rodgers'], [player_tooltip player_id='2243881' first='Lance' last='Felix']

The state of Louisiana has plenty of talented offensive players upfront, which makes this decision difficult, but I still believe that I got this one correct, as I selected the players that I believe have the best chance to make a push for a first-team list.

EDGEs: [player_tooltip player_id='934571' first='Bryson' last='Phoenix'], [player_tooltip player_id='2243886' first='Jack' last='Stokes']

[player_tooltip player_id='2243886' first='Jack' last='Stokes'] is a 2029 who makes the list this go around. He is joining the list as one of the many freak athletes with the chance of becoming a star. Down the line, he could find himself being on first teams; however, I believe he is a preseason second-team this year. He is joined by [player_tooltip player_id='934571' first='Bryson' last='Phoenix'], who has been great for years.

Defensive Line: [player_tooltip player_id='2243895' first='Peyton' last='Crutchfield'], [player_tooltip player_id='1357863' first='Kobe' last='Smith']

Are you shocked? If so, don't be. [player_tooltip player_id='1357863' first='Kobe' last='Smith'] is a great defensive lineman, and someone our staff had the chance to see up close. He is becoming one of the better players in the state and is someone I believe will shock everyone this season. He is joined by a young buck with great hands and dominant tendencies.

Linebackers: [player_tooltip player_id='1616374' first='Kyle' last='Horde'], [player_tooltip player_id='1618856' first='Darren' last='Coates Jr.']

Two linebackers who just barely missed the first team. They are great and will be great this season. I wouldn't even be shocked if they made a push for first team come next year, but it is something that is worth monitoring. Two great players with a high ceiling this season.

Cornerbacks: [player_tooltip player_id='1595354' first='James' last='Tyson'], [player_tooltip player_id='942208' first='Mason' last='Moore'], [player_tooltip player_id='423247' first='Dylan' last='Henry']

All three of these players gave a good reason to be on the first team, which left this as a no-brainer in my opinion. Each player has a great chance to be one of the best defenders in the state, and I believe these three will find their way back on an all-state list following the season.

Safeties: [player_tooltip player_id='1356159' first='Jayden' last='Anding'], [player_tooltip player_id='1356113' first='Marvin' last='Joseph']

[player_tooltip player_id='1356159' first='Jayden' last='Anding'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1356113' first='Marvin' last='Joseph'] have both been great in the past, and both players have the chance to improve, but even if they don't, I believe a second-team honor is deserving. These two are going to be electric.

Kicker: Eli Fung

Eli Fung makes the list as one of the best players when it comes to kicking in the nation. He was nearly automatic last season, and I anticipate it to be the same this season.

Punter: Will Flavin

Will Flavin nearly pinned a team back near the goal line in every game that he played. He is also an excellent kicker. He is someone who should have made the list, even if it wasn't as a punter.
