It was the second iteration in ranking this group and the first time there were numbers next to player names. One of the biggest takeaways was it being so early in the football development process for all of these guys. That said, student-athletes that stand out early in their prep careers often stay on a positive trajectory and high in future ratings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In conjunction with the '29 update, I wanted to offer more insight into what we see from these individuals. Speed, agility and athleticism with a projectable frame give Limbaugh uncommon upside. He reports running the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds and the 100 meters in an 11.83. There's a 32-inch vertical leap and 16 reps of 185 pounds on the bench press. Limbaugh got his feet wet on an experienced Clear Lake team ranked No. 1 in 3A for most of the season. Graduation losses create openings for playing time. Duffy is among the next in line with a ceiling higher than most. He laid the foundation for reaching great heights by recording 23.0 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks as a freshman in 2025. It's married to agility and athleticism in creating a difficult matchup. Another offseason developing and adding strength should lead to a sizable step forward this season. The intriguing sophomore will be at Dowling Catholic this season, joining a program that's among the best in the state at developing talent. The coaches will be molding a unique athlete. Jackson is a three-time national champion in the javelin. He also recorded the top marks in the shot put and discus among Iowa's freshmen in Class 4A. Expect a leap forward in 2026 from Jackson, who has athleticism in his blood. It led to Iowa and Iowa State extending game-day invitations this season. The success in campus showcases followed a dominant freshman campaign for Coon Rapids-Bayard in 2025. Mohr managed 45 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a defensive touchdown as a ninth-grader. That's not too shabby. Another offseason of training will make him that much harder to handle this fall. The disruptive defender accumulated 26.0 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He's poised to be even more impactful as a 10th-grader. With a year of varsity ball under his belt along with a projectable frame, speed and agility, Ploog should continue separating from the competition.
