DFW Signal Callers to Watch in Week One

<p>Week one of the 2026 Texas football season has arrived. With the season set to kickoff there are several signal callers in the DFW area who are poised to make early statements. From experienced leaders to rising playmakers stepping in under center for the first time, these ballers posses the arm talent, mobility, the high IQ decision making ability and confidence to make an impact in the opening week. We spotlight several difference makers to keep an eye as week one approaches.</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Denson is primed and ready to take the Panthers on another deep playoff in 2026. He can make strong throws at every level of the field, he is extremely athletic in the pocket with ability to complete accurate passes on the run and he shows poise under the duress of a heavy pass rush. Denson put on a show in a big district battle against Desoto last season, hitting the Eagles defense up for 7 touchdowns. He can makes plays with his feet in the running game and when he gets outside the pocket, McAbee has the athleticism to move the chains or get in the end zone for six. McAbee will be the key to Farmersville starting out the season in the win column in week one.</p>   <p></p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Phillips has the skill set to make every throw on the route tree, his pocket mobility, as well as his footwork are clean and deliberate. He has a quick trigger, he has excellent field vision and his ability to make his reads quickly allows him to make big plays for the Life Oak Cliff offense. Williams took over the Golden Bear offense as a junior and lead them a state championship win over Richmond Randle, making a statement, showing that he is one of the top signal callers in the DFW area. He has a big arm with ability to spray the route with pinpoint accuracy and his superb deep ball touch helps the Eagles stretch the defense. Snell has excellent pocket awareness combined with a quick release that enables him to get the football out on time and in rhythm. He has been on a tear this offseason, leading Allen to the championship game at the SQTs, showing the skill set to make the big play with his arm and having full command of the offense. Snell and Allen open up the season hosting the Duncanville Panthers. He has clean mechanics with superb footwork and he sprays the route tree with pinpoint accuracy. He has excellent deep ball touch, he throws his receivers open and Randall can escape to pocket to complete passes on the move. Randall is a dual threat, he can make plays with his feet to escape the rush or run the read option to move the chains. He rushed for 464 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. He has a strong arm combined with clean mechanics that allows to make pinpoint throws in tight coverage. Hackney has the arm talent to push the ball vertically with excellent deep touch and he completes passes in the short to intermediate zones at high completion rate. Look for Hackney to spread his wings in the Eagles offense this season.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Tomcheck steps in as the newest signal caller for the Dragons and he will lead Southlake against one of the top programs in Oklahoma in Jenks in week one. Hudson has the arm talent to make big throws over the top to stretch the defense and his accuracy in the short zones allows him to find holes in defenses often. Turn on the tape and Tomcheck shows off his running ability, running the read option like a veteran, which gives the Dragons an additional weapon in the run game. Look for him to set the tone in week one for the Dragons as the take on a power program in Jenks. Tomcheck will be a prospect to track this season in DFW.</p>   <p></p>    <p></p>
