While we strive to be as perfect as we can, inevitably there are always a few players that end up outplaying where we have them ranked. Below are a few candidates that I think have a shot to do just that in 2026!

Lucas goes from #125 to #78 in our recent round of rankings, but I honestly think there's potential for him to blow past that. I recently wrote about Pinder in my article highlighting top Kalamazoo prospects.

"He has a strong and powerful lower body, but he's still explosive and athletic enough to win with speed or power. He does a great job of swiping hands off of him and hitting slower tackles with a great burst of speed. Pinder is a sure tackler who doesn't let go once he gets his hands on the ball carrier. Against some of the top competition on their scheduled, Lucas elevated his game and was able to pick teams apart."

Grand Valley State made him a priority, and it's easy to see why! They may have an absolute steal on their hands.

Nolan checks into this latest round of rankings at QB #42, but he is someone I believe could significantly outperform that ranking. While I haven't gotten to see Cheboygan up close, I will be checking in on NFHS to learn more. Nolan consistently operates within the offense, making good decisions and delivering the football on time. His mechanics appear clean and repeatable, allowing him to throw with consistency and accuracy. For now, he remains a bit of a blind spot, but I will be doing a deeper dive over the coming months.

Trevor is a huge unknown to me. On one hand, I have seen a couple of clips here and there, but I largely haven't seen enough of him in person to feel completely confident in where I placed him, though it was a significant rise from #312 overall to #142. The size, strength and aggression is there, but I haven't seen enough reps to evaluate his overall technique consistency. If that is there in 2026, his stock could skyrocket.

I actually really struggled with Aidan's ranking. I settled for a top 35 spot, but there is a legitimate case for him being top 25. His size, frame and incredible athleticism gives him a strong foundation. He possesses great hands and all of the intangibles in the world. If he starts out of the gates balling out, I certainly won't be shocked at all.

I got the chance to see Walton work during the winter, and I really loved his film, but he is another one I really want to see strap it up this fall. From what I know of him, he is incredibly productive and has some of the best ball skills in this entire class. I will absolutely be watching to see some of those other traits through is first few weeks. I feel confident I have him in the right tier, but it will be interesting to see if he can give himself a significant boost.
