The good news is senior QB Eli Pauley returns after a strong junior season, giving Sherman an experienced player to build the offense around, with Chase Southern and Colby Atkins among the playmakers expected to take on larger roles. With Sherman looking to replace some of the rushing production lost from last year's offense, don't be surprised to see Atkins get more work out of the backfield this season. After the program was unable to field a team last year because of low numbers, Van returns with a young roster and plenty of players learning the game at the high school level for the first time. With only 14 players currently on the roster, depth and health will be major factors, but the Bulldogs have a chance to build something simply by getting back on the field and gaining experience each week. The schedule includes several programs also working through transitions, which should give Van opportunities to compete while its young players find their footing.
