The Rize: Scouting Notebook on Receivers, Part 4

On Saturday, June 27, 2026 Prep Redzone Next was back-in-action in Jackson, New Jersey, as they hosted "The Rize." A double-session prospect showcase, this event drew middle school prospects from all across the country to see how they stacked up against their national counterparts. Each prospect was personally hand-selected by middle school guru <a href="https://x.com/AlPopsFootball">Al Pops</a> to compete and attend.   As per usual, I attended and report to you my positional notes for the position group referenced in the title of this article. My evaluations are through the lens of a high school coach and talent evaluator.   Be sure to follow me on <a href="https://x.com/BrendanScoutsNJ">Twitter</a> for the latest New Jersey high school football prospect news and not miss a beat!   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    A solid looking prospect at 5'10" and a thicker frame [player_tooltip player_id='2236484' first='Amare' last='Carter'] projects to be a solid weapon in the years to come for Ewing. That said Carter, who runs well, needs to secure the catch before going to work. I noticed that on one rep he dropped a ball that was right into his hands due to the fact that he did not look it in.     Despite what the other scouts said and elected as MVPs and top performers (which admittedly I am unaware of), U'mar Sanders is my personal choice for the top performing, MVP, et el prospect. Sanders, who had fluid speed that did not break stride at any point, climbs the levels of a defense extremely well. Against press coverage, he was extremely quick to stem to the outside and gain leverage, forcing defensive backs to flip their hips. Perhaps Sanders' top skill was his ability to track the ball deep and over his shoulder. As such, he routinely extended his arms/hands to come down with such passes extremely well. All that said, perhaps the single-most elite-defining ability that Sanders possesses is how he gets defensive backs to slow down and slowly shift their hips. To reiterate, in my opinion, Sanders deserved every superlative that this event had to offer. His performance on the day was that damn good.     Making the trip up I-95 was Noah Manning. With a plethora of offers already, Manning did a great job of creating space when running curl routes, doing so with his body. I do, however, think that with his size Manning could be an outstanding tight end. This belief is reinforced by the lack of true explosion that was absent from him on the day.     An exciting prospect who is stying home to compete was [player_tooltip player_id='1277961' first='Nymir' last='Hawkins']. Brothers with a prospect I once worked with years ago, former Virginia Tech defensive back Ny'Quee Hawkins, showed that athleticism is in his genes. When running hitch/curls, Hawkins did two things that I absolutely love from receivers: snap his hips, hard, and come back to attack the ball. Moreover, Hawkins has speed for days. Beating his defender with speed to the outside, his paired quarterback uncorked a ball that was way up field and out of bounds into the sideline, clearly out of bounds if we were on a true football field. That said, remarkably, Hawkins managed to track it down and still nearly caught it.
