PRZVA Team Preview Series: Oakton Cougars

<p><strong>Last Years Result: 4-6</strong></p>   <p><strong>Head Coach Said Aziz (First season)</strong></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Key Returnees:</strong> [player_tooltip player_id='1312051' first='Jack' last='Martin'], [player_tooltip player_id='1311677' first='Deylen' last='Jones'], Colin Henriques, [player_tooltip player_id='1312792' first='Brayden' last='Vazquez'], Max Barker</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">It was interesting to hear Coach Aziz talk about Harvard Commit [player_tooltip player_id='1311677' first='Deylen' last='Jones'] yesterday and how he plans to use him. For those that aren't aware Deylen has been all-district selection the past two seasons and is being courted by many major Institutions. Coach Aziz is a run first coach that loves to control possession, expect to see Deylen not just a receiver, but carrying the football too. </p>   <p>Jones is special athlete that will not come off the field often. He was a second team all district selection at both receiver and safety last season. The dynamic star for the Cougars will be an iron man for this new Coaching staff.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">We have broken down [player_tooltip player_id='1312051' first='Jack' last='Martin']'s game for a few years now and he has improved in every category each fall. Healthy and looking prime for a breakout senior season, Martin will enter his third year as the Cougars starting quarterback. Suffering an injury that may have hinder his play last season, he still completed over 60 percent of his passes and 24 touchdown passes. </p>   <p>Martin's off-season recruiting is progressing as well with offers from Ferrum, Emory & Henry along with Morgan State. </p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/jack_martin09/status/2065091698678530286?s=20 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">Vazquez has been a stud the past two seasons at both linebacker, receiver and running back. Been a fan of his work at linebacker in particular last year where he notched 89 tackles and was a second team All-Concorde District selection. Brayden has FBS level speed and received his first Division 1 offer this past spring. Him, Martin and Jones are a part of a senior class that has the ability to break through and get Oakton back to the playoffs.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/braydenvaz2027/status/2055670423690342498?s=20 </div></figure>     <p class="text-gray-700">What may be the key to Oakton's passing attack taking flight is the return of [player_tooltip player_id='1691807' first='Collin' last='Henriques']. Before a season ending injury took down most of his sophomore campaign he had been on a terror. Earning a couple of offers, he is one of the most explosive prospects we have in our 2028 class. </p>   <p>Ranked 20th overall for this group, he runs big league routes and has a deceptive stride. Like I said he is healthy again and ready to return to his All District form. </p>    <p></p>   <p></p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Key Newcomers:</strong> [player_tooltip player_id='2241313' first='Ethan' last='Onorio'], [player_tooltip player_id='2241314' first='Righteous' last='Reed'], player_tooltip player_id='1556816' first='Aidan' last='Hyderkhan']</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Oakton could use some reinforcements up front and Coach Aziz spoke highly of a [player_tooltip player_id='2241314' first='Righteous' last='Reed']. You can see the upside from his measurements at 6'3 and 250 lbs., the potential is endless. The Cougars could use some tough dudes up front, and putting this 2028 prospect at noseguard seems to be a good start. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Another prospect that should see a lot of playing time is Linebacker/offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='2241313' first='Ethan' last='Onorio']. Good size at 5'11 and 185 lbs., he will be playing on both sides of the ball too.</p>    <p>We kick off our annual team preview series with a school that is very familiar with our site. The Oakton Cougars finished last season once again just short of the playoffs at 4-6. Storming out of the gate with a 3-0 start, the Cougars limped to the finish line losing 4 of their last 5 games. Playing in what many consider the toughest District in the state, Oakton makes no excuses and are poised to breakthrough in 2026. Returning numerous starters and a new Head Coach Said Aziz, their is a different vibe over in Vienna. Coach Aziz takes over after a very successful run two years prior at Hayfield, winning three district titles. He feels good about the energy and attitude the kids are bringing this off-season. "We have a team with a great deal of experience, and our goal is to give this senior class the season they deserve. Since day one, we've emphasized being disciplined, playing physical, and becoming the best version of yourself every single day. We compete in what we believe is the toughest district in Virginia, so our focus is on preparing our players to show up every week, compete at a high level." Coach Said Azid</p>   <p></p>
