Not every pass was completed, there were some chemistry issues between wideouts, some miscommunication, yet I can’t fault him for that. What ended up being most impressive were his testing numbers.

Question I Want Answered: What will it take for schools to pull the trigger on Martin?

I’m emphatic when I say Martin himself shouldn’t burden the above question. I stress that prospects handle what they can handle, and from what I know, Martin does just that. Yet as an evaluator, I want to have a clearly answer to the question I presented above. Martin graded out as an FCS-caliber passer, a good grade from myself considering how harsh I can be with QBs. 4.2 GPA is going to have A ton of Northeast FCS programs flocking. 6’0, 175 pounds. Measurables will play a huge factor in attempting to decide Martin’s recruiting ceiling/floor. A producer as an underclassman at Oakton, I’m excited to watch Martin in a more intimate setting. Are there little traits I can uncover that can make me feel better about his current standing in his state? Are there things worthy of concern? Is Martin worthy of early offers, or will he have to battle it out among his peers for collegiate opportunities? Watching him for a third time this offseason will surely help in answering all questions I have.

The signal caller nearly lead the Cougars to their first playoff appearance in a decade last fall and has only been looking better ever since. He was one of the best quarterbacks in our 7v7 circuit and I thought he looked much more comfortable in Coach Slay’s new offense. Martin is high on a lot of college coaches radars and with close to 10 schools scheduled to be in attendance, this is the perfect opportunity for him to make his mark.

From observing his performance in Maryland and at our event in Pittsburgh a couple weeks back it is clear that Martin looks much more comfortable in the pocket. He has much more poise under center and was making some nice reads against elite competition.

Throwing for a career high 5 touchdown passes, Martin has the Cougars in prime position to reach the playoffs in over a decade. This was a statement win for Oakton and having Martin leading the way seems fitting. Before the year there was a bit of unknown of who was going to be the starting quarterback for the Cougars, as time went on the sophomore has cemented his claim.

Facing a heavy rush all night, Sophomore quarterback Jack Martin Jack Martin 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Oakton | 2027 State VA had some clutch throws in his team’s stunning win over Fairfax. Martin who had been in a quarterback battle seems to have established himself as the starter going forward for the Cougars.

He made a number of big throws while on the run from a fierce pass rush. Martin like his teammate Jones are a part of sophomore class in Oakton that is building something special.
