My colleague Carl has covered Deylen several times, and this is my first time watching his tape. Deylen is a large-frame WR standing at 6’02” and 205 lbs. He displays solid athleticism, with good balance and strength as a route runner. His size allows him to align as a WR, TE, and H-Back for Oakton, but I see him as a WR in college. He wins by a combination of footwork, route running, and size. He has the potential to develop the entire route tree into his game. He also plays Safety on defense and is used as a returner on special teams.

A second team all-district selection Jones is 6’2 and knows how to box out his defenders. Defensively he really shined on the back end for Coach Slay’s unit, obtaining 85 tackles with 3 interceptions.

An important off-season awaits for Jones and this talented young Cougars squad, if they continue on this positive trajectory, the playoffs will for sure be in play.
