Offensive Skill Position Standouts from Crown College Camp

The skill position players showed out on Saturday at Old National Bank Stadium in St. Bonifacius on Saturday, thriving in front of the Polars' coaching staff with impressive numbers and highlights throughout the 1-on-1 matchups, garnering plenty of attention that warranted offers from the coaching staff, as well as momentum that could pave the way for offers coming from other teams in the near future. We take a look at the top offensive skill position standouts from Crown College's Football camp that took place on Saturday!   RB:    One of 2 unexpected presences at the Crown camp, Deshon Yancey wowed the coaching staff with his pure athleticism and blistering speed, earning an award at the end of the camp as the top overall skill position player from the camp. Yancey immediately stood out after posting a stunning 4.5 40 yard time, then topping that effort on his second attempt with a 4.49 time. Yancey possesses sharp footwork and great change-of-direction that should help him excel in space, though he certainly has room to improve in terms of his ball-tracking and consistent hands in the passing game. Nevertheless, the raw talent is simply too much to ignore, earning him an offer from Crown following the conclusion of the camp, and with how committed he's been this offseason with his attendance at multiple different camps around the country, he should get plenty more over the next few weeks.     [player_tooltip player_id='1648099' first='Rudy' last='Reyes'] has been a budding name this offseason among our scouts, and he was one of my top standouts from the SJU camp back in May, and it was no surprise watching him excel once again here at Crown. Much like at SJU, Reyes excelled as a pass-catcher during the 1-on-1 drills, stretching the field as a vertical catch, showcasing great footwork, sharp plants, and being able to catch passes downfield through contact, his skillset really matches well as a multi-purpose threat who's dangerous in the open field. With such building momentum over the course of this offseason, it's no surprise after his performance on Saturday seeing him earn an offer from Crown, his first offer, and probably the first of several we could see over the next few weeks.     [player_tooltip player_id='1665848' first='Angel' last='Felix'] was one of my personal favorites at RB on Saturday, immediately standing out as a smaller, but muscular RB with a low base and square shoulders. Felix showcases strong mechanics as a straight forward ball-carrier who maintains his stance while changing direction and exploding off his cuts. I could make the argument that Felix was the best pass-catching RB during the 1-on-1 sessions, catching nearly everything that went his way, showcasing great route-running ability and being ability to win his go-ball routes catching the ball through contact. Felix is expected to be the frontrunner for the Rockets' No. 1 RB position on the depth chart in 2026, where he'll have an opportunity to prove his potential as a stud that could build momentum toward a late recruiting push by the end of his senior campaign.     Isaiah Miguez was a leading piece for the Thunder's defense last season, but Miguez was competing on Saturday at the RB position, and he made a convincing case to compete in the backfield at the next level. The one thing that stood out was that he was never satisfied enough with his performance, though his 4.75 40 yard time on his second attempt ranked as one of the fastest at the position during the camp on Saturday. Miguez is refined in his technique, showcasing sharp COD, not taking extra steps, and flashing his impressive speed consistently during the Indy and 1-on-1 sessions. Miguez's athleticism and toughness could easily translate well in the backfield, making him a very legitimate two-way threat for prospecting teams keeping an eye on him.     After getting just 8 carries as a junior playing behind a loaded backfield filled with upperclassmen, Ashtyn Sharkey enters his senior season looking to make a late case that he deserves an opportunity at the next level, and he showcased a lot to be excited about as he enters his senior campaign. Sharkey was one of the top performers during the testing portion of the camp, posting an impressive 4.68 40 yard time. His raw athleticism is impossible to ignore, but he proved more than capable in being able to consistently stretch the field vertically while possessing solid hands and steady balance throughout. Sharkey will look to parlay this momentum toward a huge campaign for the Blackhawks that could help garner some interest at the collegiate level.     [player_tooltip player_id='1699579' first='Conner' last='Schmitt'] is already ranked as one of the top overall prospects in MN for the Class of 2029, and he made his presence known in St. Bonifacius on Saturday. Schmitt posted a 4.99 40 yard time during testing, a solid number for an athlete his age, and throughout the Indy and 1-on-1 sessions, Schmitt flashed sound footwork and solid hands, with his performance mirroring and even outmatching that of far-more experienced Backs that he was competing alongside with. His performance on Saturday further validated my belief that he is a premier RB prospect on the rise among his class as he looks to find his footing in Springfield's loaded backfield in 2026.    WR/TE:    The other GA prospect at the Crown Camp on Saturday, Sean Neal was electric, and you could've made the argument watching his performance that he was the best overall player on the field at the camp. Neal immediately stood out after posting a whopping 4.55 40 yard time, then topping that effort with a 4.53 time on his second attempt, with his time only being bested by the aforementioned Yancey. Beyond his speed, Neal was a natural at the WR position, showcasing great ball-skills, being able to consistent burn outside defenders deep 1-on-1, and catching practically everything that was thrown his way. After his stellar showing, Neal was offered by Crown, the first for Neal so far, and after that performance, I'm sure that it certainly won't be the last for him.     Gabe McCutcheon enters his junior season looking to break through on the Spartans' varsity lineup, and he made a good case for increased reps on Saturday with a strong showing at WR. McCutcheon posted a solid 4.98 40 yard time during testing. McCutcheon has solid length, controlled footwork, and great ball-tracking skills, while also proving flexible and successful lined up both in the slot and outside while having success catching at every level of the secondary. McCutcheon proved himself as a reliable go-to WR in front of the Polars' coaching staff, and it's only a matter of time before he breaks out for Somerset's offense as well.     Harry Yonker was another WR who flashed just absolutely stunning speed on Saturday during testing. Yonker posted times of 4.52 and 4.54 during the 40 yard dash testing, among the fastest in the entire group on Saturday. Without a doubt he can stretch the field with his speed, but Yonker also showed great form, pumping the arms consistently, using his hands well to get off defenders, and showcasing long strides that cover a lot of ground, and once he gains separation, there is no catching him. Yonker could use some more bulk to match his frame, but he is certainly a name in the Chicago area to keep an eye on as he enters his senior campaign.     A steady, reliable, and borderline-explosive target on Saturday, [player_tooltip player_id='1612361' first='Jarren' last='Mitchell'] has taken big steps forward in his growth at the position and could be poised for big things entering his junior season. While most of the receivers were able to stretch the field vertically, Mitchell excelled in maximizing the boundaries from sideline-to-sideline, winning on nearly all of his horizontal route concepts and showing great control and footwork on the sideline. Mitchell has fluid route-running skills, which showcased itself when he made an awesome hitch-and-go route where he completely faked his defender, which was easily the best WR rep from the camp. Despite playing for a run-heavy Sting unit, Mitchell has proven more than capable at the WR position that he may be yielding a major workload in targets in the passing game this upcoming season.     [player_tooltip player_id='2239454' first='Aidan' last='Wills'] was largely an unknown name coming out of MVL entering Saturday, but he made a very legitimate case on Saturday to become a breakout star in the 2A conference in his junior season. Wills has solid length, and he used that to his advantage in the 1-on-1 sessions, showcasing a strong vertical high point, controlled footwork catching on the sideline, and multiple cases of being able to catch through tight contact from the DB. A physical WR who showed capable of winning his 50-50 balls often, Wills should start to see more targets heading his way with the Chargers entering the 2026 season.     Despite being listed as an OT and LB prospect, [player_tooltip player_id='2239460' first='Charlie' last='Georges'] competed at TE on Saturday, and despite not having much experience as a pass-catcher, Georges proved more than capable that he could make the transition from OL to TE at the next level. Using his physicality on the trenches, Georges proved difficult to jam and used his size to gain leverage against his matchups. Georges proved very much capable as a pass-catcher, being able to high point passes while flashing quick hands to track the ball quickly while being able to vertically stretch the field as well. Georges is a blossoming prospect who shows the ability to play well at numerous positions at the next level.     [player_tooltip player_id='2070066' first='Bryce' last='Hartman'] continues to showcase impressive growth in his performance, growing substantially since his appearance at our Stock-up Showcase event back in December. Hartman was one of the most steady TE standouts from the camp, being able to get off the defender's jam and win with physicality while showcasing an impressive level of flexibility in adjusting to the ball, being able to reach back for a pass thrown just behind him and showcasing an impressive vertical high-point for the ball. Hartman has plenty of time over the next 3 years to grow into size, and he should become a premium target for the Bears very soon.     Rounding out this list is [player_tooltip player_id='2126672' first='Joseph' last='Jacobs'], who flashed as one of the more underrated WR prospects. Watching Jacobs run, he is able to start and stop very well, showcasing sharp footwork, and allowing him to change direction on his routes on a dime, while also possessing the length to stretch for passes that may be a bit off target, making him a perfect go-to possession target in the passing game. Jacobs garnered attention earlier this offseason with his performance at the Gophers' camp, and further showcased his potential to compete at the next level in front of Crown's coaches.
