Conner Schmitt Conner Schmitt 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB/LB Springfield | 2029 State MN is already ranked as one of the top overall prospects in MN for the Class of 2029, and he made his presence known in St. Bonifacius on Saturday. Schmitt posted a 4.99 40 yard time during testing, a solid number for an athlete his age, and throughout the Indy and 1-on-1 sessions, Schmitt flashed sound footwork and solid hands, with his performance mirroring and even outmatching that of far-more experienced Backs that he was competing alongside with. His performance on Saturday further validated my belief that he is a premier RB prospect on the rise among his class as he looks to find his footing in Springfield’s loaded backfield in 2026.

A top 15 prospect currently in our Minnesota 2029 class and one that surely looked the part at Saturday’s Crown College Prospect Camp was Springfield RB Conner Schmitt Conner Schmitt 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB/LB Springfield | 2029 State MN . The 5’10 170 pounder got on my radar from a handful of reps during camp in which it started off in testing, watching Conner’s change of direction for his age during the pro agility in which he tested with one of the better size profiles in his class with that specific testing number. The live reps is where I felt Conner blended in with the upperclassmen, as he showed off as a route-runner that is just getting started boosting his athletic upside that is going to continue to grow. Conner has a sound football IQ for his age and is one that I was impressed with his grade A character for his age as well!

Springfield should be in fine hands going forward as they continue their rebuild, with Conner Schmitt Conner Schmitt 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB/LB Springfield | 2029 State MN flashing as a talented ball-carrier to lead an impressive group of underclassmen for the Tigers. Schmitt may not see more playing time immediately as he may more likely move into the Tigers No. 2/3 RB role, but after averaging 13 yards per run on 11 carries and scoring 3 TDs on his few reps, Schmitt should have more opportunities to pound the rock for the varsity lineup. An underrated athlete who possesses the speed, power, and agility to create big plays in the backfield, Schmitt will be a promising piece for the Tigers’ offense to watch going forward as he continues his development.

Springfield had another strong showing in 2025, and through their success came a batch of underclassmen that will look to sustain their success over the coming years. One of those underclassmen that stood out was Conner Schmitt Conner Schmitt 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB/LB Springfield | 2029 State MN , who in just 3 appearances ran for 143 yards on just 11 carries (13 YPC) and 3 rushing TDs. Schmitt made up for his smaller size with impressive breakaway speed and an underlying level of strength, notably evident by his testing numbers, which include a 320 lb squat, a 315 lb deadlift, and an impressive 33″ vertical jump. Schmitt should quickly find himself receiving more reps in the backfield heading into 2026, which will give him more opportunities to flash his big-play potential.
