Isaiah Miguez was a leading piece for the Thunder’s defense last season, but Miguez was competing on Saturday at the RB position, and he made a convincing case to compete in the backfield at the next level. The one thing that stood out was that he was never satisfied enough with his performance, though his 4.75 40 yard time on his second attempt ranked as one of the fastest at the position during the camp on Saturday. Miguez is refined in his technique, showcasing sharp COD, not taking extra steps, and flashing his impressive speed consistently during the Indy and 1-on-1 sessions. Miguez’s athleticism and toughness could easily translate well in the backfield, making him a very legitimate two-way threat for prospecting teams keeping an eye on him.

An Iowa running back that caught the bulk of my attention amongst prospects in the state at teh Crown College Elite Camp was Grand View Christian’s Isaiah Miguez. Isaiah showed the quick suddenness you want to see coming out of the backfield and I liked how Isaiah continued to pick up speed into the second level. He showed off some fo the best footwork I saw during the bags drill as well which makes since as he went 7.25 in the L-drill which in the top-tier for times in the RB group. The 5’9 190 pound is one that I am surprised that doesn’t have an offer yet.

Miguez lists his 40-yard dash time at 4.6 seconds, his vertical leap at 36 inches and bench press at 300 pounds. We can see that athleticism when watching clips on his Hudl page. The compact linebacker flashes impressive straight-line speed in pursuit. He moves well laterally and is quick, in general. Miguez is fast in diagnosing plays and keeps the ball in front of him. Physicality is a big part of his game. Active hands help him separate easily from blocks. Miguez’s skill set aids him in coverage. He’d also be a special teams’ asset on the next level. Miguez finished up a productive junior season with 49.5 tackles, 45 of which were solo stops. He added two tackles for loss, a pair of sacks and an interception.
