NH Showcase: 11 players who aced the tests

New England Gridiron Development's New Hampshire Football Showcase was held at Saint Anselm College on June 20. The event attracted a full field of 100 athletes, as well as representatives from 30 college football programs from throughout the Northeast. The following athletes were among those who excelled in the combine tests, which were held before the players took part in position-specific drills.    No one performed better in the combine testing than DiPaola, who stood out in each of the five stations. He ran a 4.76-second laser-timed 40-yard dash, which tied for the seventh-fastest time at the event. He was also among the top 10 in the L Drill (6.71), the shuttle run (4.19) and the broad jump (9 feet, 10 inches). He ran the third-fastest 40-yard dash (4.69 seconds) at the New Hampshire Showcase, and was also impressive in the vertical jump (38 inches) and the broad jump (9 feet, 10 inches). In addition, he completed the shuttle run in 4.41 seconds.      Van Avery (second from left in photo) raised eyebrows when he cleared an even 10 feet on back-to-back attempts in the broad jump. The 10-foot distance was the second-best jump at the event. He also tested well above average in both the L Drill (6.91 seconds) and the shuttle run (4.39). Van Avery holds the Londonderry school record for the vertical jump (38.9 inches). His top vertical at the New Hampshire Showcase was 37.1.      Shikrallah was another athlete who tested well across the board. His best effort may have come in the shuttle run, which he completed in 4.28 seconds. He cleared 9-10 in the broad jump, 33.1 inches in the vertical jump and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.76.      If you like speed, you'll like Sheedy. No player turned in a faster time in the 40-yard dash than Sheedy, who was clocked in 4.64 seconds. That was clearly his highlight during combine testing, but he showed good athleticism in other events as well. Sheedy completed his two turns in the shuttle run in 4.45 and 4.59 seconds, cleared 8-feet, 11 inches in the broad jump and finished the L Drill in 7.70.      Felch finished among the top 10 -- in some cases the top five -- in most combine events. Considering his size, you could argue that his most impressive performances came in the the broad jump (9-feet, 1-inch) and the vertical jump (32.8 inches). He also completed the L Drill in 6.7 seconds and the shuttle run in 4.42.      Creswell's testing numbers were particularly impressive since he has yet to play a down of high school football. His best numbers came in the L Drill (6.95 seconds), the shuttle run (4.56) and the broad jump (9 feet, 5 inches). He also had a leap of 28.4 inches in the vertical jump.      Salkovitz attracted attention from college coaches early in the day when he posted a time of 4.68 seconds in the 40-yard dash. It was the third-fastest time turned in at the event. He had solid testing numbers in the other combine events as well: L Drill (7.21), shuttle run (4.56), vertical jump (30.7 inches) and the broad jump (9 feet, 4 inches).      Mbuyi (second from right in photo) may have been the most intriguing player at the New Hampshire Showcase based on his height, athleticism and room to add good weight. He plays primarily defensive end, and raised some eyebrows when he completed the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds, the second-fastest time at the event. He completed the shuttle run in 4.62 seconds, reached 32 inches in the vertical jump and cleared 9 feet, 5 inches in the broad jump.      Morales, who plays both quarterback and running back, was one of the top out-of-state performers at the New Hampshire Showcase. He was at his best in the 40-yard dash (4.75 seconds) and the shuttle run (4.05 seconds). He also cleared 9 feet in the broad jump and his best effort in the vertical jump was 30.0 inches.
