Van Avery (second from left in photo) raised eyebrows when he cleared an even 10 feet on back-to-back attempts in the broad jump. The 10-foot distance was the second-best jump at the event. He also tested well above average in both the L Drill (6.91 seconds) and the shuttle run (4.39). Van Avery holds the Londonderry school record for the vertical jump (38.9 inches). His top vertical at the New Hampshire Showcase was 37.1.

He has all the tools required to be an exceptional receiver — speed, jumping ability, hand-eye coordination as well as a big wingspan. Van Avery has also shown the ability to make contested catches, and he plays in a program that has had success producing players who can contribute at the college level. He also made big plays on defense from his safety position last season, when he led the Lancers in interceptions. In addition, he was one of Londonderry’s punters and his speed made him a run threat from punt formation. With improved consistency, he will be one of the top receivers in New Hampshire as a senior.
